shonen manga/anime or shojo manga/anime???

i myself prefer shonen manga/anime because i like shonen type of plot,violence,great fighting scenes,awkward humour and characters and extraordinary super/magical powers that most animes/mangas have.........

I like Shonen manga/Anime because of all the advernture,and fun,and humor.I like Shojo manga/anime because i'm the same way,because of all the awsome romance.

Tokyopop has shoujo and shounen o_O;.

I MUCH prefer shounen. There are only a select few shoujo that I can read. Shounen has action and great comedy. I just get bored of the same kind of love story over and over again ^_^;.

I prefer shojo. I am more amused by cute and sweet stuffs. But I do read shonen mangas, only if that manga has thrilling and interesting story.

i tend to lean more towards shounen. I like the occasional romance series but if i had to choose between the two it would definately be shounen.

You know my answer. Shoujo owns you. XD I'm surprised that one of the reasons people choose shounen is for its humor. Shoujo manga is FAMOUS for wacky humor. I've laughed at shoujo manga a whole lot more.

Shoujo humor is different than shounen humor. To tell you the truth I can put a finger on the difference, there just is o.o.

Shoujos are good, but I like Shounen since I'm a guy(naturally!). DBZ would have to be my favorite Shounen! Don't know too many animes and mangas out there, still just getting introduced to the wonderful world of anime and manga!!

shoujos animes may target most girls and shonens may targets most boys....but that does not mean that only boys can like shounens and girls like shoujo.......that's because almost all my friends(only those who likes animes of course,others who don't watch much think that animes sucks)*ahem* most of my friends like to watch shonen animes....yeah...i'm a girl.....and i dislike shoujo animes.....not that i'm commenting on shoujo...just that i have different preference....

and gender doesn't counts when it comes to preference....just wanna make that clear...

not all you know....shounen humor sometimes make use of some 'special powers' and characteristics the characters possess to make a humor out of it...

I don't think so. Dragon Ball is still considered an "all-ages" show in Japan. It is true that Japan isn't as censoring as America, but Dragon Ball is still appreciated as a show for all ages over there.

Shounen is aimed for men so I assumed you meant fan service for men. And I still disagree on Trigun and PoT. Fan service is attractive characters that are purposely made to be attractive. An example is a character with overly large breasts that break the laws of physics by bouncing every where. People may choose to believe that Vash or Ryoma are handsome but there are no shower scenes or anything of the sort that are trying to make the characters seem attractive.

Take Saiyuki for example. Kazuya Minekura took the four characters from Xīyóu Jì (Journey to the West) and made them drop-dead sexy. Whether in their personalities or appearance. In the movie there was a shower scene with "exaggerated" camera angles. The characters are shirtless quite often, and it's very open for fan girls to make yaoi pairings. Not only that, but the chapter dividers have pictures of the male characters (most commonly) with pants that only go up to their hips, leather, open vests, etc. That, my friend, is a very good example of fan service.

Look, Dragon Ball may be an all-ages show but the fact that there's no kanji at all in the theme song and the really childish elements says different to me. When I say "kid's show" I don't mean that adults can't watch it. Disney movies are also for kids but everyone watches those. So please stop arguing already. XD;

Fanservice to me includes anything like a nude scene. Vash was running around buck-naked like a moron in that one ep and you don't call that fanservice?

Prince of Tennis has attractive young boys and there are subtexts of them being gay with each other so that is also fanservice (to GIRLS)

i'm still think that it depends on which type of anime/manga type which you prefer more.....i still prefer to watch/read shonen no matter how many shoujo series i've watched....

I can't really decide between any of them. As much as I love romantic stories (happy or sad) I love adventure and action too. Although I gotta say that I prefer shoujo manga rather than shonen manga.

Well I almost exclusively have shoujo lol. The only shounen I have is TRC which being CLAMP is kind of in between the genres. I'm a sucker for the unrealistic scenarios, the recycled plots, pretty boys, deaths in families etc. I just love it!
