Is anyone here interested in the paranormal? things like aliens, ghosts, cryptzoology etc.

Statistically, there is a large probability there is intelligent life somewhere in the massiveness of the universe besides humankind. I am neutral on that subject. Ghosts, not really because there could be a variety of logical explanations to why people feel there are these "Ghosts." As for Cryptozoology, in my opinion it is just a disgrace to the sciences. Science is a system of acquiring knowledge based on the scientific method, as well as the organized body of knowledge gained through such research. There is no knowledge that any of these creatures exsist, nor is there even valid evidence.

Not really. I'm too well educated in the ways of the scientific method to buy into that crap. I am however interested in debunking pseudoscience, which would include the "paranormal."

And aliens really aren't paranormal, though ufology is certainly full of pseudoscience.

Extremely. I do believe in the supernatural and well, I study that stuff. Part of it has to do with religion while the rest is simply a facination.

Though I wouldn't call aliens paranormal. Why? How big space is, it's impossible we're the only life existing.

Well i do believe in ghost as anwsered in the do you believe in ghost's thread. Aliens, i believe that there is intelligent life outside of our galaxy and beyond, i just don't think the UFO's that we here about are actual aliens. Pm me if you want to here what i think they are. but yeah stuff in the night that goes bump sure. I believe it.

Personally, I don't really care. I'll never have to make any important decisions based on the existance paranormal so it's mine to ignore.

That's because cryptozoology is just a subset of the hoax business, rather than science. It's all about donning a huge ape dress and having your friend make blurry films of you walking through the woods, or making a boat with a huge plaster monster-head and taking it for a spin in the Loch Ness the middle of the night.

I am highly interested in the paranormal, aliens, and cryptozoology. Some things in those categories I believe in while others things in those categories I am skeptical of their existence.

Aliens I believe in. There have been enough things through out history that could easily be interpreted as signs for alien existance. Plus it would just be disturbing if we were the only intelligent life in the universe.

Cryptozoology is one of my hobbies. Contrary to what some others have been suggesting cryptozoology is more than just guys in gorilla suits being spotted by guys with no lives. For example the ceolacanth (sp) a species of fish was thought to be long extinct when it was rediscovered last century. Also the giant squid used to be considered a myth when its existance was proven first with bodies and later photographs and even more recent actual video footage of a live specimen. Some cryptids are probably just hallucinations but others I think have a basis in real creatures that have yet to be discovered.

THe paranormal is something I think is something that should be taken with a grain of salt; however, I know there are many things that lie far beyond the realms of man's understanding. Many things that now we know are the results of science would have been consider the paranormal a few centuries ago. I think as time goes on we will discover that some things that are consider paranormal phenomenon to be rooted in science that is just beyond our understanding.

That is because it is pseudo science. They make a living off of sounding like science, but they do the absolute opposite thing that science does.

Pseudo science starts with a hypothesis, and then works out how it fits the evidence.
Science starts with the evidence, and then makes a hypothesis.

What pseudo science lacks is key parts of the scientific method, that is the demand for falsifiability, Occam's razor, proper peer review, etc.
