Ryan and Dave are the most unique identical twins you'll ever meet. After tiring of piercing, tattoos, and implants about three years ago, they began exploring much heavier surgical modifications. Dave had spent two and a half years in pre-med at Queens University in Kingston, and using contacts made both there and online he and his twin brother have changed themselves in ways far beyond anything anyone else has ever attempted.
Dave amputated his arm and gave it to his brother Ryan, whom now has three arms.

Why the....

Ok, thinking about this makes my head hurt. There are a lot of people who lose arms to accidents and other things yet this guy just gives his away. I'm sorry but there is something wrong with this....gives me shivers.

Aparently it was because they couldnt think of another way to mutate their bodies. Tattoos and piercings wasnt enough I guess, so they did this. Though, I think Dave got the short end of the stick. Not only does Ryan have his one arm, but part of his finger too. You would think Ryan would give something up to Dave...like a nipple or something >_>

i think that's kinda... Well I don't have a problem with it I guess. But I do think that they don't really appreciate their bodies enough. To be whole and healthy is something I really appreciate most in my life and I think all people should do the same, including them.

Yikes... that really.... really weirds me out, especially given how the procedure was preformed by removing all the blood from the arm then cutting the muscle and skin and having to use a bone saw to remove it. I can understand piercings and tattoos... but something about amputations as self expression seems very wrong to me.

My whole thing is why would you do something like that when he can't actually use the arm. It's just gonna hang there. And what if Dave ever wants his arm back so he can...talk on his cell phone while driving, or flip the bird to 2 people at once? A tatoo can be removed and a piercing can heal but dude, you aint getting your arm back. And if you do it probably won't work anymore.

'We share everything. I don't feel that I've given anything up. I'm not sure if anyone who's not an identical twin can really understand the strange bond that's going on here. I've never had a phantom limb pain. It really feels like it's all still a part of me.'

No regrets apparently, and they don't look young so I doubt he'd ever want the arm back. Even if he did I'm sure they could probably put it back if they really wanted, it still has blood running through it and 'cos they have the same genes swapping limbs is a breeze... Well, kinda. So yeah, don't see how putting 'em back would be an issue.

But, yeah...I get the whole concept of twins trying to become different from one another in order to establish their own sense of individuality, but, seriously, this is the wrong way to go about it...unless the arm actually worked. If the arm actually worked, all the more power to them.

Did you actually read the article? They don't want to be different from eachother, the opposite actually. I think they feel as though they're the same person almostish...

Okay, so maybe they don't feel like the same person. But they're obviously very close.

Anyway, I think it's mostly weird but kind of awesome. Now...if it was a robotic arm that shot lazers THEN it would mostly awesome and kind of FREAKIN AWESOME!

Uhm, sorry. You made the thread so you're probably right. I was just pointing ou that it doesn't look as thought he feels like he got the short end of the stick, because he doesn't feel as though he's lost anything. Ya see where I'm coming from? Sorry...
