That show is silly. It attempts to bring science to the masses, but in doing so, they loose everything that defines science. They draw flamboyant conclusions based on often very dubious experiments. That's not science, it's more on the same shelf as crop circles and ufology! It's pseudo-scientific!

Haha. You got me there, Eris. However, I admire their problem -solving methods (althou sometimes the myth too dubious to go with) and rig building skills.

I'd say I'm a semi-geek over Anime as I know a reasonable amount about it... but am by no means specialized in it.

When it comes to video games however, I know everything. I've been playing and collecting video games since I was five years old and my dream has always been to get into the video game industry which I am currently pursuing by attending a video game programming college. The only subject on video games I wouldn't exactly know would be many of the extremely old games as they predate me... stuff like NES or Atari games (most of the well known ones I'm knowledgeable on but if someone brings up something that wasn't all that popular I wouldn't have a clue on it).

Also with that in mind I know a lot about computers... more software although I have taken a couple of Computer Engineering classes. Right now I'm knowledgeable in the C, C++, and C# languages as well as the DirectX graphics API; I also know assembly for a very simple microprocessor (which was used to program a robotic car with path-finding using sensors for one of my CE classes)... but a lot of assembly is somewhat similar so I've had some experience with it. It is a no brainer that I put together my own computer although that was a while ago so it is fairly dated now... but it does what I need it to do. I also read a bunch of books on programming topics... currently I'm reading whatever I can find on doing real-time rigid body physics as I'm going to be programming the physics engine for my teams junior year game (which will be 3D).

Have you played around with real-time raytracing? I did some fiddling with that a while back. Really interesting stuff, though not very useful in practical situations since you're limited to extremely low resolutions.

Nope I haven't... but real-time ray tracing does sound awesome if hardware can get to a point were it can handle doing it at good speeds and resolutions graphics systems would basically be changed forever.

I also find it kinda funny how every part of a software engine especially with respect to running a real-time application like a game uses physics in some way even though to many people that wouldn't be apparent... and with real-time ray tracing they have basically proven that using optics equations can produce better results than rasterized graphics. Physics for the win...

I'm a Geek. I'm Video Gaming obbsessed, Anime Obbsessed....and spend all my lesuire time, when not on video games, on my computer.

Although I do find time to squeeze in time with friends. But it's usually in spurts. Like you'll see me everyday for a week then I'll be in my room for the rest of the month.

DDR gives me excersise, walking to work and coop gives me the sun I need.

Now I just need to find time to shower. Lol. Just kidding.

Well at least I say it's fine. Whats wrong with knowing a lot of stuff about things you like? It just shows you're interested and are sticking to it. Unlike some people who are followers and are like, "I like soccer, No I'm a gamer, No now I play guitar...etc"

Star Ocean the Second Story (PSOne) :

I know just 'bout everything there is to the game. I can name about 80% of the items in the game (Which is a lot!), every recruitable character, and bunches of other things. I know the profiles of each character backwards and forwards. And I know how the game relates to Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean Blue Sphere(Which I can't play...Japan only T.T), and Star Ocean 3. I collect extra copies of it. I still play it. And I claim it as my favorite video game of all time.

Unreal Tournament 2004 (PC)
Man, I still play this game! And there are still tournaments going on! (And I never win!) I can name all stock weapons (Because there are too many user-created weapons) and the amount of damage they do, how far projectiles will go relative to each map and the position I am in. And I know everything about one particular map, including all jumps all spawn points, where someone would spawn if I frag them at certain locations, ect.

Gravity at 9.5 m/s^2 sucks almost as much as 9.8. Learned that because falling for 2 minutes through a infinite loop of portals can eventually turn you to less than a pancake if you fell a any sort of angle.

Hm. I definitely think of myself as a geek. I am one, really. I don't know about being one in the aspect of anime, as much as I was when I first got on here, but...I don't know, I guess I am a semi-geek in that aspect, too. As for where my more full-on geek shines:


Video Games - More than just a hobby to me. Video Games, as well as music, is like a great passion for me. I like to think I'm pretty hardcore and in-touch with the world of video games. I admittedly do like to flaunt my knowledge about them a good deal, but that's because I honestly love video games. I don't play a lot of PC games, so I'm a little lacking in knowledge there; but I'm good with consoles and handhelds.


Music - Music is something that I feel the need to have around me at all times during the day. I'm a Rock freak, though I've really just gotten into it a year or two ago. But I could go on just about forever in a conversation about music. -winks at Tsuna- I quickly learn the lyrics to just about any Rock song I like, and when I hear it I feel the urge to (and I do) sing it. So...I'm probably more of a Rock/Alternative/Acoustic
geek, since that's what I listen to most and know the most about.


Technology in general - What can I say? I love technology. Technology excites me. I'm not as knowledegable as 氷の動物 and Eris, but I'm always thirsty for more knowledge and info on the latest tech.I guess I'm a geek who goes, "OMG, it's a blah-blah-blah with a blah-blah-blah! Dude, this is so frickin' sweet! Specs...what are the specs?!"


Politics - I listen to mainly Conservative and Independent political talk radio shows daily, stay in-tune with the worldwide potitical scene, and like to debate political issues. I just get a kick out of politics, and I do stay very current in my knowledge of political affairs.

It's really is quite awesome. The little doodad I did with rt-raytracing wasn't very advanced, but never the less a really fun project. It's worth checking up if you want something to play around with on the side some time.

I did regular 3d rendering (from scratch) as well too (I wanted to get acquainted with the inner workings of 3d rendering). That was sort of boring, because of the immense work required to actually get a nice result.
