Happy Walpurgis Night

Since everyone seems to make threads about more or less historically relevant holidays (St. Patrick's anyone?) I figured I'd make one about Walpurgis Night, which is tonight (or tomorrow night in some places.)

So, gather everyone about the nearest large bonfire, sing some songs and try not to fall into the fire, lest you want to die or be horribly disfigured.

Yeeha, Walpurgis Night. Where I come from they celebrate it tonight... always a great excuse to get drunk for everyone.

But dancing around a big fire and screaming weird stuff is fun for everybody, isn't it?^^

Yeah, though I've always sort of skipped the fire part, and just gotten drunk and danced and screamed weird stuff. Maybe that's just me.

Though, tonight I'm staying at home. The last couple of weekends have been a bit... intense, so it's time to take a little break from the booze.

Right on! Though, semla is traditionally eaten some day in February. ... but February, April... no big diff.

It's nice because it's genuinely pagan. There's two things I dislike in a holiday: Christianity and phony neo-paganism. Walpurgis however, is genuinely pagan. Even though the whole scaring away witches and evil spirits part isn't as pronounced these days, it's still pretty unchanged.
