Sacrifice for...?

I was recently thinking about this today, but if you had the choice to save your friend or your lover from a Fatal incident, which one would you save? Won't state my opinion yet since I'm still unsure myself of who I would save...

I don't have a lover or an extremely close friend, so I can't really answer this question directly. But, if I was to ask myself if I would save one of my family members or my closest friend, I would say family member. And because you make a family with your lover, I guess my answer, at least for now, would be lover.

Wow, that would be an extremely hard decision, I mean here it is you have to choose between two people who are very close to you and also you have the guilt of ones death hanging over your head. I would really look for a way to save them both but I guess if I had to choose I would probably save my lover. Though most likely as an end result I would be swallowed by my guilt and go into a deep depression.

Fortunately, my "lover" is my friend. My best friend at that, so choosing isn't much of a problem for me. Yes, I would save him. I'd rather get injured or die that to get blamed if he gets injured or dies.

I'd probably go into deep depression knowing I saved myself over someone else and end up ending my life anyway.

I'm with Eris and MiniPhil.

I love most of my friends, and my girlfriend is awesome; but I am the most important person in my life. If I could die or get critically hurt, then don't expect me to be some idyllic hero and save my friend or my "lover". Who knows, I might just attempt to do so on impulse, but I won't sit here and say that I would die for anyone, just like in previous threads.

Neither is permanent. They tell you "Boyfriends/Girlfriends come and go but friend's are forever" and that's crap. :| Neither is "destined" to be there, by your side, forever. So really, it's all in that moment's decision. Which ever of the two you care about more, you save. Also, a lot of detail goes into it.

Like- If it were my best friend, Lacie, who I've known for ten years.. I'd save her. But if it were my semi-friend (but still a "friend" as stated), I'd probably save my interest. In any case, I'd rather just save both. NOW- If it was like... Lacie and this boy I've been interested in for six years.. that'd be a little hard. Because the boy and I are also very good friends. In that event, I would do my best to save both. I don't really like the idea of sacrificing someone. That shouldn't be my decision. :|

Well I know some of you might think this is mean but my family has always taught me that YOU are first before anything. So in the case that something bad happens and I had a choice between saving my own life or saving my lover/friend I think I’ll go with myself but that’s only depending on what kind of situation your talking about yea I know Miss.BunBun is cruel. But also my dad has been in a situation such as that. One of his missions in the war was in invade this building and capture the Iraqis soldiers. Well when they went in there they didn’t know that they were out numbered and had to get out, shots were being fired everywhere and his best friend got hit and this other guy that my dad didn’t like. So he had to determine who has the better chance (end the end they all made it out safely)
Now also if it was a car accident with my friend and my lover that wouldn’t be so hard. I’d basically determine which one has the chances of surviving and after determining I guess I’d go in there but for situations such as a building crumpling or something as deadly as that you best believe I’m gonna save my own skin well not unless your God an I doubt that would ever happen XD

Come on your lover or your friend?

Lets assume your married to your lover, are you going to save the one your planning on spending the rest of your life with, possibly the father/mother of your children, your SOUL mate, or the person you go see movies with on the weekends?

How is this even hard to answer? My best friend is like a sister to me, but she's not my other half. Not saving your lover wouldnt make sense.

Edit: I'd also GLADLY risk my life to save my lover, because thats how I role. Thats what real love is.

To be totally honest... I'd have to go with both... if I can, because there's always a way to save both and have their lives saved. But if I lost any of them, I'd go with. There's no point in losing the people you love the most over death...

The same goes for my family. I live, breathe, and die by them. If they weren't in my lives, I'd die emotionally.

Well...It really depends how close the friend is and your definition of "lover" o_o;; But if you mean lover as in bf or something and a regular friend, I'd choose my "lover" lol ^ ^; But if I could, I'd save them both. Nothing hurts worse than losing a loved one.

Heh. I'm not one to believe in soulmates and I'm not in a "She's the ONLY girl I will ever love, ever again! There can't possibly be another girl for me - I'll die for her because she is the love of my life and she completes me" state of mind with my girlfriend. I love her deeply, but she's of the same mind frame as me - she is the most important person in her life, and she isn't going to predetermine the outcome of something so unpredictable. You dont know what you're going to do in the heat of the moment. I slipped up in thinking like that in a previous relationship, though I'm glad that I did have the common sense to know when I'm being lied to. But anywho, I believe that this is also situational. Say your friend and your lover were drowning in a lake or something: the friend is only a few feet away from you and you have a chance at rescuing them, but your lover is floating down stream, beyond 100 feet away. Would you just screw over the friend that you might be able to rescue and swim for the lover who you have a slim chance of rescuing? In that case, I think it better to go for the friend. That's why I say you can't predetermine your actions with things like this. You can SAY whatever you want, but it's what you DO in the moment that counts.

So, to give an answer, if you will, I say that it depends on the situation that I'm/they're in.

Thought about it, and I think I'd also have to go with Lover. When you think about it, friends, like previously stated, come and go all the time. Like I'm no longer friends with a kid named Mike since I never see him anymore, wheras I see my GF almost every day of the week. So I guess what I'm trying to get to is Friends will eventually leave, but Lovers will always be with you...unless you divorce XD

My best-friend is like family to me, in fact me and my entire family treats him like family. But then there's my lover as you all put it, a girl that I probably known for a year or two over a guy whose like family. I'd save my friend, he's like my twin brother, no one can live without their twin and I probably would go into deep depression if I would save my lover instead of my friend. Well, to be honest, (and I know this is probably going to sound really corny) I'd save my best friend, who is my mother. if it wasn't for my mother, I would not be here today. And likewise. But neither would I put myself at a serious risk of permanent injury or death for her. She wouldn't that. I am the only thing she lives for(or so she says a million times a day) and if I died, she'd die. Literally. But if I let her die, I'd have that horrible guilt over my head. Conflict is awful. And so confusing. @.@;

due to the importance of my friends in my life and how important my lover would be if i had one...........i'd probably have a mental breakdown before i got to choose.my mind is fragile and a choice like that would tear me apart...(heh dots)
