What is it that keeps us going on with our lives? Why not just kill ourselves and go to an even better place?

Seriously, someone must tell me why suddenly everyone is becoming so morbid around me, first one of my friends, then AF, is morbidness a growing trend here? Threads on deaths and pain seem to be coming up alot.
And I didn't mean that as a hurtful comment, just seems alot of threads are following this fashion.
What I live for is alot, I'm too happy with life at the moment to do such a thing, I'd never think of doing something like killing myself in my entire existance to see what's next, when it comes, it comes. Ever messed around in the rain at dusk with friends? Or walked on a solitary beach, no one else there but yourself? Do that and see how alive you'll feel.

I personally believe we live our lives, do what we want, or what we can.
Then we die.
However, I also believe that after a reprieve, we come back, and live again. Some people are fortunate, or maybe even unfortunate enough to remember their last life.
As for the reason we don't commit suicide... Well, for one it is illegal. Two, it is pretty stupid, don't you think? Why take your own life just to do it? That affects more than just you, it affects everyone you know, everyone around you.
Chain reactions of guilt and grief can happen just because one person committed suicide. Whether it be because someone was being picked on at school, and couldn't bare it, and the rest of the kids now carry the guilt-- or perhaps after a lover's quarrel, one committed suicide, and now the other has nightmares about it, and has to take medicine for it, and to deal with the depression, brought on by the guilt.
And what about parents? How does that make parents feel, when their son or daughter kills themselves. Everything they've worked for to give them, and do for them and watch them grow up. Part of them, really. They watched a part of themselves die.
Can anyone honestly say they want to put anyone through that?
The fact that we have a purpose to be here otherwise we would just be mindless drones like 80% of the population that the government controls. I believe that we are here to protect a certain person, and after death we are reincarnated into a new body with the same soul and the cycle repeats until we can't reincarnate anymore then we will cease to exist, become extinct and then that's it.

My grandfather says there's a difference between 'Dumb' and 'Stupid'. In this case thinking about why we don't just kill ourselves is 'Dumb" and the act of suicide is just plain "Stupid"
Why toss away something so precious just because you find no direct point, beggining or meaning in it? Why end it all when you can't answer that all agonizing and unfigurable question? Does the unknown scare you that much?

How can you be sure there is a better place? Even if you believed in Heaven and Hell, how can you be sure you're not going to Hell? And isn't it that when you commit suicide, you'll go to Hell for taking your own life? As for myself, I live to live life. I live for the people who believe in such things as Heaven/Hell, because I've seen people die and it is not the dead person who suffers but those he/she leaves behind. Unlike most people though, I am not afraid of death itself, but of painful death (is there such a thing as fear of pain?). If I die, I don't wish to be a burden. But more so, if I live, I should not be a burden. Being depressed, thinking it's better if you're dead, it hurts those who care for you. It is a very selfish act.
