Sometimes people with even clinically diagnosed depression can't trace it back to one cause or say why they feel that way, so you're definitely not alone. All sorts of seemingly little things can contribute towards someone feeling down- stress, a poor diet, sudden life changes, pressure, doubts about the future, self-criticism, getting stuck in a rut, negative thinking, poor sleep, interpersonal problems.. the list goes on forever.
Eating a good diet, getting plenty of exercise and going outside during the daytime are some natural, easy ways proven to start boosting your mood if you don't know what's wrong, along with obvious things like socialising, doing activities you enjoy and talking through anything that's troubling you.
I get depressed every morning, and every night. It's probably because I can't socialize as much as I'd like to. Also from not eating a proper meal every morning and every night. ^^;'
I am, I am, I am.
without a doubt
I experience that quite a lot. Sometimes that is quite disturbing.

Depressed...no...but I have had moments where I've been angry for no particular reason...so much so that I'd like to punch someone's face in. Sad enough, I haven't learned how to manage that yet.

I have, but I try to find reasons, and about 89.99% of the time I found a reason. There are rare times where I felt depressed for no absolute reason. Or it could be that I'm just lonely. T - T
yes i have...alot actaully, sometime i wish i didnt feel the way i do.

I have found that no matter how depressed I get, I snap out of quickly and become stronger from it.
No. When I am depressed, there is always a clear cut reason for it.
Ehhh, I dunno if I'll stick around. We'll see.

Yes, all the time. Of course, I suffer from clinical depression, so that's mainly it.
I'm really sorry that happens to you. It can be very frustrating to be so depressed, but you have no idea why.

Not from what I can recall. Sure, I'm not always in a great mood, but I'm usually neutral. Not bursting with happiness, but not crying in the corner O_o
Usually just taking care of yourself mentally and physically prevents this kind of a problem. I hope all is well for you.

As for personal experience, yes I've been through that kind of situation several times before and those were really hard times, well..in my case.
My advice...just don't think too much about it. I know its not that easy, but you can always look at things in the brighter side. Don't contain yourself in seclusion. Having someone close to you for you to release whatever is bothering you inside could help you recover. And try to find something for you to like and enjoy as much as you want it; I found this effective for me.
Thanks for the cool set, Thornwillow.

Well, i once was depressed for the most ridiculous reason because i couldnt tell what reason i was depressing about. I was just depressed for a blank reason in my head, even when i tried to ask myself why, i couldnt answer at all. It was a weird feeling!!
not really, i have reasons why i get depressed... sometimes the reasons scar me so it'll stay there forever it's just only certain things can trigger it...
I'm the same.Originally Posted by Souhi

mmmm yeah, happened, a lot. I have reasons to get depressed but sometimes I can just switch, since mostly Im in a good mood.
Thanks to Wonderwice
That's the problem with emotion. Unlike your body you can hardly control them. There are times when just simply being bored has gotten me depressed out of my mind.
Subconciously there is always a reason. You're body could be lacking nutrition of some kind and you wouldn't even know, but that can mentally depress you. There are always reasons but many of them are unknow at the time.
There's a quick way to identify little things that are getting you down, which is often useful if you're temporarily feeling depressed and you don't know why. Get some paper, write these headings down and underneath, write everything you can think of that's making you unhappy in that category. Even if it seems trivial- you might be feeling down because of lots of little things, and changing as many of those as possible might help overall.
Environmental-
E.g. sharing a room with a sibling, financial problems, living in an area where you fear crime, being victimised, losing something like a job or ambition, upcoming things you're not looking forward to, under pressure, struggling with schoolwork..
Interpersonal/Relationships-
E.g. boyfriend/girlfriend problems, family problems, bitter about some past problems with friends, feeling taken advantage of, feeling left out, losing someone important.
Lifestyle-
E.g. not enough exercise, eating unhealthily, drinking too much, smoking too much, lack of sleep, irregular hours.
Cognitive-
E.g. low self worth, seeing the worst in things, feeling helpless, criticising yourself, getting anxious over nothing.
Physical/Medical-
E.g. medicine side effects, illness, any ongoing medical problems.
Spiritual/Religious-
E.g. questioning beliefs, failing to see the purpose in life, dreams and ambitions, morals being compromised, etc.
It won't solve depression, but it can help point out lots of little things that don't seem significant on their own. And once you've identified them, they're often easy to change and it helps you to realise how manageable they are, take back control and do something about them one at a time instead of staying stuck in a rut. You can also write down everything that's right in that area- such as good school grades, getting on well with a sibling, joining a school team and so on.
