seriously though who has to take the SATs?

i do... and it's friggin' insane!!
I took 3 practice tests, my parent's make me review, study and practice every night. and on top of that my homework is becoming a mountain of late assignments. three days ago i had a nervous breakdown because i'm getting 2 D's (*sob uncontrollably*) and now i have to study MORE!!
*sigh*
but anyways who here is taking The SAT or the ACT?

Blargh, I do. I do fairly well on the reading comp, and I do really good on the vocabulary but math is just like *Looking through the questions*

Haven't taken the SAT, but I'm planning on it really soon. I've taken the ACT three times, and my best composite score was 32. I want to take it again to see if I can do any better, but I don't have the money to retake it. ;__;

The only tip of advice I can give is this: NEVER CRAM!! That is the worst thing anyone could possibly do; the day before the test, relax. Don't do anything that will stress or tire you out.

You know this is actually kinda funny since just Wednesday I participated in a PSAT exam. I'm pretty even as far as the English hunk and Mathematics hunk. I couldn't finish a single one of the darned sections, though.(mostly cause I take forever on tests...and because I stayed up till like midnight the previous night... I feel so smart, all of the sudden...) I ALMOST finished the last section.(the one where you get 30 minutes instead of 25) I had like two questions left(and was doing rather well) when that cursed teacher called time!! >_< I was so angry!

Not to mention I was holed up in a class right next to the band's marching practice field so their practice bled through the walls in the middle of one of the sections and i had to like strangle myself to concentrate! I finished like 10 of the questions in that section... ^_^

So umm... yeah... yes I do.

Well it is highly highly suggested that you do if you want to get into a good college. I did good on it. I think it was 1358. Yeah.... well if you want to go to a city college then fine, but if you want to go to A college, then take them. Sure they are probably the most brain smashing crap a teen has to go through but it is worth it.

We only have to take the ACT down here. The SAT's are optional.

Er...thats a different test entirely. That is one of the standardized tests mosts states have, but the requirement to take it was brought around by the No Child Left Behind Act. For instance, in Massachusetts, we have the MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehension Assessment System).

The SAT, as well as the ACT, are national tests most colleges require to get into them, although most require the SAT.

As for my scores, I got a 1760 (on the new SAT) last June, and I'm taking it again in December. I was hoping to do a lot better, but I psyched myself out. But I did get a near perfect score on my 25-minute essay.

I took the SAT. It went ok. I did fairly well. I got into a good college and now I'm just worried about the PCAT. The SAT is only there to help colleges determine if you are at least at the high school proficiency. When I took it, the highest score was a 1600. Now, I don't really know. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll do fine if you're doing well in school. Standardized exams don't really measure your intelligence, they only measure how well you test.

Fun fact: Bill Gates of Microsoft fame was one of the few people to ever get a perfect score on the SAT. Then he dropped out of Harvard. xD [my next-door-neighbor is friends with his mother - says she was FURIOUS when he did that]

I took it and the ACTs when I was in high school. Forgot my score, though. It's important for entering college, but not the most important thing to happen in life. Take it, get a good score, and then move on.

even if you are going ot community college you still need to take the SAT or at least the ACT so you can have a bigger choice of schools. even after community college if you didn't take the SAT there are only a few colleges out there that will take you. community college just shows wether that you can take college classes or not.

so either way you should still take the SAT and/or the ACT

Got a perfect 800 on the math, but a lousy 400 on the english. Language sucks.

I got A freakin 200 on english... u just got lucky... But i did get a perfect 800 In Math Tooo. Math Is Waaaaaay Better than anything in the SATs

I do... A while from now. I am going to go into the Air Force after high school, and so I don't have to worry about them now. Plus, if the PSAT is harder than the SAT and I got a 174 out of 240, what do I have to worry about!

I tried out the ACT in seventh grade, and got a 21. I'm required to take the ACT (although I'm going to take both the SAT's and ACT's anyways). I haven't given them a shot yet however. After I get a good way into Calc 2 next year, and sharpen my essay composition skills, I'll give them a go.

Uh the tests aren't necessary, but when trying to get into a more prestigious school, every little bit helps. Not to mention, if you do score highly, they can be added factors into getting scholarships and saving you money.

It's foolish to say "I don't need these" unless you really have no aspirations to do much beyond a state school.

XP Getting into colleges are getting difficult now and I have taken tha PSAT with you that Saturday so good luck getting into your college. ^ ^ Anyway, when you know the Latin words for the vocabulary, it'll be easy for ya. and as for math, simply what the problem is mainly asking you and make sure that the answer is correct, that's my advice. I know I'm taking the ACT at around April, but I wish for others good luck ^ ^ b. And as for the reading comp, just remember to read the questions, so you know what you're answering ^.~
