Waking up

Another 5 min poem... let me know if I should keep at this.

She wakes in the Church with the sound of the bell

The seats are empty, the pulpit as well

The now broken Cross to the floor has fell

God doesn’t live in this empty shell

She takes to the street and looks to the sky

No Sun could she see, yet morning draws nigh

The air was thin and cold and dry

She started to panic then she started to cry

A guttural howl was a sound she did hear

Then scratching and moaning increased her fear

Shadows in the darkness, nothing was clear

And the bell from the Church still rang in her ear

She fell to her knees and began to pray

God would come and turn night into day

But the words of her prayer could not find their way

The wet on her hands said there was a price to pay

She looks at her hands and they are covered in red

The Church bell still drones and resounds in her head

She turns her hands over and is filled with dread

The cuts in her wrists remind her she’s dead

She wakes up each morning with the sound of that bell

She greets each day with a terrible yell

Forever in this dark place to dwell

She’s earned herself an eternity in Hell
