Hi hi. This is one of the more fun poems I've written. It's not my style to give help to the reader in interpretting the poem, but I will give this hint: I hate the narrator. Don't you?
That Voice Out of Nowhere.
Are you afraid?
Are you still scared?
Where is life leading you,
And when will you be there?
In these "precious" moments you're living,
It is now hardly worth pretending
That your sorrow might ever be ending.
Do you still hope?
Why don't you cry?
For the torture of life
Will not leave you to die.
Enjoy life while you're young, they're sending.
You've tried, you failed, now stop contending
That your sorrow might ever be ending
Still you defy me?
Can you imagine,
The peace I will give you,
The balming compassion?
You lose your dreams, but then start mending
The damage you made by being unbending,
That your sorrow might ever be ending
Is that then your answer?
You'll struggle and fight?
I do wish you well then,
Though hopeless your plight.
Still before you, my offer is standing.
Chase your dreams, your better years spending,
That your sorrow might ever be ending.
The Return.
I've come again.
You are so torn.
I watch as you struggle
And wish you'd not been born.
Will not you now consider relenting?
I hope now I'll find you consenting,
That your sorrow might ever be ending.
Let us try this,
Let me explain
The offer I give you
To fast ease your pain
I would have you among others blending,
Never your heart or your mind extending,
That your sorrow might ever be ending
Please just give up
Let your thirst slake
You've accomplished nothing
Yet your ambition won't break
Can't you see that to heartache you're tending?
I can prevent your young heart from rending,
That your sorrow might ever be ending.
I'm disappointed
I'd hoped for better
I'll leave you for now
And let ties to pleasure sever
I'll return when you're in a corner cringing
And you I will try again befriending
That your sorrow might ever be ending.
Alone in the Dark.
I guess it's over.
You've “proved” me wrong.
Your life is a spring day;
Such a peaceful faerie-tale song.
I now see your problems relenting;
That your hardships and trials are stinting,
That your sorrow might ever be ending.
It wasn't likely,
Who saw it coming?
Your life has turned around,
And in contentment it's blooming.
Just don't ever expect to find me amending,
That maybe you're right in your constant intending,
That your sorrow might ever be ending.
You don't get it do you?
You cannot see the way
That always in your life,
You will face troubles and dismay.
You'll find toils unending upon you descending,
Always with pleasure these plans upending:
That your sorrow might ever be ending.
You're ignoring me now?
Fine! Leave me alone then,
Like everyone else,
Who said they would not be my friend.
I'll sit here in darkness with anger pending,
While all around, you find loved ones commending
That, "Your sorrow might ever be ending!
