Personally I don't think President Bush can be trusted. The war in Iraq, in my eyes, is just like Vietnam, a completely pointless war that could easily be avoided. He just wants us to be in it so people think he did something important while he was president when all he did is cause more problems. Bring back Clinton please or anyone besides a Bush!
My mom also disagree's on being safe with Bush. I on the other hand, kinda agree. But I still want to read other's opinion...Please?

considering that i still live in a house and have parents who support me, yes i think im safe
as for bush he will be gone in a couple years and will not be president ever again
i also think it depends where u live for if bush is safe for u or not
i live in minnesota so i am not so worried about it as i bet hurricane katrina victims and survivors are
i live close by a nuclear powerplant
i think thats my only threat
and i don't think that president bush would do something stupid like blowing up all the nuclear power plants in america that would be idiotic
as me for i do not like bush as a president, i feel bad for all the victims and survivors of hurricane katrina and 9/11
My opinion/rant on bush.
Do I feel safe with him as president? NO!
There are so many things that he has done that has gotten me so mad. He'll say one thing at one particular time to please one particular crowd and then says the exact opposite to another group.
He changes his mind TOO much and it really annoys the crap out of me.
I usually don't say stuff like that, espesicially because I respect him, no matter what he has done. He has obviously done something good, or else he wouldn't be where he was, am I correct?
There are many things that have made me question him many times, but he cant be president forever, and just wait we'll get a new one that's even worse.
Anyways no I do not feel safe with him as president, but I dont feel safe as anyone as president, so there's not much in this. (And for all of you that know me relatively well, yes i do know that i usually don't get to political stuff.)
I hate bush, but i dont know about the safe feeling...i just hate him, lets say it this way. If i was president the middle east would be a new crater on the earth.
I don't think that America is safe with Bush but I'm not worried because of the way our goverment is set....Bush may be a complete idiot and look like a monkey (in my opinion) but I think that most of the senate is farely intelligent and wouldn't allow us to be caught up in something too big....As for those people in Lebannon and Isreal I hope Bush stays out of that mess....
At least he isn't Nixon though......so I wouldn't worry too much
"Why was there bacon in the soap?!"
I don't like Bush. At all. I was sooooo frustrated when Karry got nominated last term. It was like everyone just wanted to prove that we could do worse . If Joe Liberman gets nominated this go around I'm going to have to go on a hunger strike.
That said, as for how safe I feel with Bush in power, I'm not all that worried. The checks and balances in our system still hold true, and they will keep him from doing anything too radical. Not that I honestly think he would do anything too horrible. I mean, in my opinion Iraq was a terrible decision (I won't go into my reasons, for fear of a flame war), but I think overall Bush is a good man, with good intentions. He's not, as someone said, another Nixon (He's no saint either, but you can't have everything). Has anyone noticed how much the last 8 years have aged him? He looks 25 years older, and for that he has my sympathy. Like most others who are against Bush (at least, I hope most others against Bush feel this way), I don't wish him any ill will, I just wish someone would replace him and do a better job.

I dwell in your dreams,
I sleep the back of your mind.
Absolutely not. I've heard of presidents making mistakes but Bush? He once flipped the bird on camera; ended up on the news, he asked a blind reporter, "Are you going to ask that question with them shades on?", [something like that] and another time a reporter asked him something and he says "yes". She revisited the question. "I don't understand what you're asking." [something like that] The things that come out of his mouth at times! They shock me!
I'm not one of these "Bush haters", so you'll have to excuse me for not sounding so frustrated and angry. Is Bush an idiot? He has made quiet a few mistakes in office, so he obviously isn't the brightest man in the world. He's probably one of the most inefficent presidents of all-time. His morals and beliefs (no offense) often keep him from making the right decisions (stem cell research). His speech and vocabulary leave much to be desired. The war in Iraq, although I certainly don't agree with this "it's Vietnam all over again!" stuff, only seems to be going well at certain times. Now, I'm not a tree-hugging, peace obssessed, "make love, not war" type of guy, and I do believe that the terrorist in the middle east pose a huge threat to western civiliztion; but, to be honest, America's military isn't as well-oiled as it once was. The Secretary of Defense is a lame-brain; one second, he's calling for the heads of all the terrorists planning to do harm to Americans; the next, he's locking young Military kids up in Jail for actually fighting the war. Civilains got killed in WWI, and as unfortunate as that is, it's gonna happen. Bush...he doesn't have a lot of good going for him, but I do appaud him for bringing the country together - republican and democrat - after 9/11. However, that's in the past. His record now, is anything but spotless. But still, I refuse to call him a "Nazi" or hate him like he hasn't done a single decent thing.
Oh, and I forgot to mention immigration. Bush is set on his little amnesty policy, so that, first and foremost, makes me feel slighty unsafe. So in that respect, I don't feel 100% safe...but with the history of America, you know that there is no such thing as "100% safe".

Well I do not live in the USA (I'm Canadian), but I don't think it's safe to have Bush as a president. I can't say I know a lot about is interior policies and I don't hear a lot about the stupid stuff he does or say in front of cameras. It's just that when you listen at is speaches on the foreing contries.... How many times I heard on the news that Canada is a terrorist heaven from Bush administration? A lot... And is : We are there to bring freedom and a new way of life to those people, so you are either with us or against us. Well I could go on a lot against Bush but thats my main point of view on him.
I simply Hate Bush as to feeling safe with bush as president... I think I'm safer standing in front of a train heading straight for me at full speed with no brakes. The placement of a president- what I mean is who is elected as president- can always be altered as long as you have enough of the right connections we should all know that this applies to somethings while the rest of us know that this applies to all things even especially the most important roles in the world including president - even Royalty can and has be manipulated you just have to look for it. I'll stop there before I get too into it.
no not really.... that's why my bro says he's gonna be president lol (and then i laugh at bush cause of this parody "He's Drunk".... its too funny about Bush screwin up the US and wantin a drink lol)
Oh boy, another anti-Bush thread. It's been a while since I had the chance to rant on one of these.
Right now, I'm pro-Bush, and I favored him winning the 2004 election. If Kerry had won the election, I would have been pro-Kerry. I wanted Gore to win the 2000 election, but he didn't. Of course I didn't vote in 2004, because honestly I could have lived with either. I could stretch this into a 10 page long essay, but to sum it up in one major point, the majority of America wanted Bush in office. I will support my country by supporting the official decision of the people. Ultimately I don't think it matters in the long run who is elected. The president is primarily a figurehead and a scapegoat.
Anyway, on to the point. Do I feel safe? Let put it this way, I've been trying to join the military for 3 years so I can stop being safe. Yes I'm safe, and yes I support our president.
I'd also like to add how dissapointed I am that people will STILL rant about how much they hate Bush and how horrible he is, without any valid backing to it (I'm speaking primarily of my parents, who are die-hard, fanatical liberals).

Oh, Fun! Let's all bash bush again! It seems to be the hip thing to do. Looking through this thread...none of you know what you're talking about. So I'll say this. He is the president of our country, we elected him into office to represent our nation. Does he make mistakes? Yes. That's normal, we elected a human not God. I believe the war on Iraq was necessary. Terror in the middle east is a HUGGGGGGEEEEE threat to the western world and the friendly neighboring countries of said pro-terrorism states. So in short, much like Bakakame said: Bush is my president, and if you have a shred of patriotism then respect your commander and chief, the leader of your country. Believe me, he could've done much worse. Besides, he only has two more years in office. I highly doubt he'll destroy the world, or threaten the safety of the US.
All The Ways You Wish Could Be? That's me
Well said Masali..
Well we haven't had a building blown up in almost 5 years, it could be alot worse. In short I like George Bush and I agree with his policies. I don't see why everyone is so hell bent on flamming a man thats doing everything in his power to keep the people in this country safe >_>
Well, I don't think he'd attack me if I sat next to him. So, yeah.

I think yes.
I am, I am, I am.
I don't like Bush and everything he supports. But, I personally feel perfectly safe, what do you expect him to go to your house and protect you? Maybe if I was fighting in the war I would say otherwise, but I'm not and I fell safe. After all he's only human. Maybe your expecting God to run in the next election.
I agree, though this immigration policy scares me. Anyway, I respect him, but some of his ideas do scare me a little so I don't feel safe sometimes. At least his term is over in two years.Originally Posted by Masali

It's my belief that he's been rather egotistical during his time in office. Of course, that's not all he's been, but primarily I think that Bush has let the Presidental position go too far to his head. He's called himself "the decider" for the USA while on television. He's been ridiculed by war veterans in conventions that have taken place in Utah -- Bush doesn't take criticism too kindly, as shown by his responses. He's even displayed the middle finger to the media. There are too many incidents to justify my thoughts on his egomania, so I would suggest that others look up the information themselves.
But on to the heart of the matter. Are we safe with Bush? I don't believe he's a threat to our lives -- I would probably be comfortable with the analogy that Whispers has used -- but admittedly, he's prone to saying one thing and doing the opposite. He's also known to cover his tracks. (Skip the white text if you'd rather me cut to the chase. Or if you prefer to keep a one-sided mind about this subject.)
~ Immigration -- Granting amnesty to illegals still within the borders of the US, as tehAnimeFreak has mentioned. Also, while legislation is still making its way through Congress on supresssing illegal crossing of our borders, there just happens to be a superhighway in the works that spans from the Mexican border to the Canadian border: 12 lanes wide, with four sets of railroad tracks. Even if the highway's purpose was being held as a "trade route" it's just as likely that it will facilitate illegal entry into the US.
~ War Crimes -- "The US Supreme Court also exposed Bush to war crime charges under both the US War Crimes Act of 1996 and the Geneva Conventions when the Court ruled in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld against the Bush administration's military tribunals and inhumane treatment of detainees." (quoting Paul Craig Roberts, Assist. Sec. of Treasury in Reagan's Administration, also Assoc. Editor for Wall Street Journal Editorial) President Bush and the Attorney General both agree that under existing laws and treaties, Bush is a war criminal along with other many other members of US Government. So to remedy this, he's instructed the Dept. of Justice to draft changes to the US War Crimes Act as well as changes to the treaties outlined in the Geneva Conventions: 1) denial of Geneva protection to anyone in any American court, and 2) protection of US government officials or military personnel from prosecution for torturing war prisoners. There's more to it than just the face values of these changes. Under the US Constitution, retroactive law is impermissible. Basically, this means that you must follow the law as it exists at the point in time the crime was perpetrated. Bush, in drafting the changes as retroactive legislation, will be violating the US Constitution.
~ War -- There's nothing that can be said about what's been done in the past. Personally, I think that the Iraqi invasion was a good call, However, I oppose the American occupation of Iraq, and I realize that others may disagree with me on that. Though, I must point out that with the amount of US soldiers dwindling over in Iraq, it has caused -- very recently -- thousands of Marines being called from inactive reserves to active duty. It's disconcerting to think that many more of our own soldiers -- some of whom may be related to you people on the forum -- could be going to their deaths.
~ Timetable for withdrawal -- On several occasions the newly rebuilt Iraqi government has requested a timetable for withdrawal of US troops. They've been mostly ignored, with the Bush Administration suggesting that the withdrawal will be based on conditions, rather than a timetable. Now, I'm going to offer this point of view instead of expressing my personal thoughts on this: Should the US withdraw from a country that has had its government reformed by the US? I mean, since the US restructured the government over there, it's okay for us to leave, right? So why are we still over there?
In short, do I believe that we're "safe" under Bush's thumb? No.
It would be so easy to say that his actions aren't doing the individual Americans any harm, but we as a collective people should be concerned with the direction he's leading us in. Most of us are in ages ranging from 13 to 30 years old. We've still got a lot of time on our hands for us to be affected by his actions.
Personally, I give more respect to the US Constitution than the President himself.

Bush? Yay! A whole, entire thread about him too! I'm so happy!
Really?
No. I don't actually care. I don't like him, but I'm not revolted by his presidency. He did a sucky job as president, but there aren't too many great presidents. A lot of them sucked. John Kerry most likely would've sucked.
I don't care about the Bush haters or supporters. I just don't care. But I hate it when this happens:

This tread is moot, from the standpoint that terrorism is a very rare way for an American to die, and Bush's Presidency hasn't changed that, for better or worse.
OK, now for the response as actually intended.
Do I like Bush? No. Do I trust him to run the country in a positive manner? No. Has he hastened our country's near-inevitable path to dissolution? Maybe. If nothing else, he hasn't helped an iota. He (and the leadership of the Republican Party) constantly plays at creating rifts, and dividing the nation. I can't abide that.
I hate that kind of logic. It's not unpatriotic to think your elected leader is messed in the head. I give my patriotism to my country above all. If Bush or any other elected leader wants any form of respect from me, they have to earn it, and Bush has failed to do so. Sure, he was elected in a Democratic election, but so, I remind you, was Hitler. The ability to win an election does not mean you're worthy of respect or capable of running a nation, it just means you were able to convince more plebs to vote for you than the other guy.
