A Forgotten Past

God, I haven't posted or written a poem in forever! I made this because I was thinking of something to make a signature about.

Regal Rose is my pen name

Through the window pane I stare

as the world and time fly by

The rain trickles down the glass

past the grey foreboding sky



I rest my head against the sill

and close my eyes again

I let my mind wander to memories of long

and remember times of then



Then when I was happy

Then when innocence reigned

Now just fragments and wisps are all that is left

of my memories locked up and chained



The times of peace and joy I lived

were broken and hidden away

Away in a place I would never find

though I searched for it everyday



I lost my precious memories

old and torn as they are

My childhood was ripped out of the book

leaving nothing but a faint scar



Try as I may, I never will find

the childhood stolen from me

Someone locked the locks and without looking back

threw away the key



Everyday I strain and try

searching my memory through

Looking and looking for something not there

for the hopeless dream I pursue



I open my eyes and look straight ahead

out through the foggy glass

The rain has just bare stopped

and the sun peaks out at last
