Heaviest Metal Band

The list is of the top Metal bands, they are the hardest, deadliest bands around.
They chew up your Metallica and Black Sabbath and spit them out in a gnwed up heap of filth.

So don't say that you know a band harder, because I suggest you actually listen to these bands first.

There are many black metal bands too...Dimmu Borgir or Rotting Christ or Cradle Of Filth(their first >.<) Darkthrone and many many many others..Well in this poll I will vote for Slayer even If I like COB better..

None of these band are actually heavy when it comes to comparing with the heaviest bands. And yes, I listen to all these bands so I can say this.
Of these, the heaviest in sound is Lamb Of God.

But I suggest you check Bloodbath, Kataklysm, Opeth, My Dying Bride, Hypocrisy and those bands Doom Angel and Kurumirina mentioned.
When you've checked them, plus a couple of more bands, then you can put up this poll.

Cheese and Crackers, I didn't even know these were music. Im sorry, but overdistorted guitar tuned down 2 steps to make your arse cave in, screaming, and bass tom-to-snare drumming don't quite cut it for me.

Ironicially, the one I like the most is one of the heavist on the list. Lamb Of God. I can tolerate them.

People, realize that there are only 10 poll slots. To avoid clutter and getting in trouble for having to make two identical threads to fit the bands, my list stands short.

Once again, of all metal bands, more people know about those listed in the poll than things like Darkthrone, Kataklysm, or 'Witchery'.

Cannible Corpse is just like a not-as-demented GWAR, and I still believe they ripped GWAR off with their Butchered at Birth album. GWAR came around first, they are still sicker and more insane (If you don't believe me, listen to the song Baby Raper or Sexocutioner. Better yet, Slaughterama.), and they play harder too.

I have listened to Morbid Angel, Opeth, Bloodbath, and Dimmu Borgir before this was made, and frankly their standings do not make a strong cut with their crazy political word-ravaging. It seems like they want to make a meaningful song that makes no sense, skipping topics left and right.

Well I knew all the bands before I saw this topic so I don't need to listen to them again. What I can tell you is that it is very stupid to make this typ of Poll. There are always people who disagrea with your choice of bands. Im one of them, have you ever listened to Caliban, Blindfault, Blind Guardian, Extol and Venom?
You do write down Slayer as a real hard band, sorry yes there very good. I've seen them live I can know it. but you didn't wrote down Venom? thats a wierd choice because Venom is from the same time/era as Slayer but Venom is almost 20 times as hard as Slayer. They wont only chew on Slayer they would digest them until nothing remains.
So the choices are not as simple as you tell us, listen to the bands I state and see if you want to change your list.

I'm sorry, but these bands in the poll make less sense than any of the bands other people has mentioned.
And really, what do you mean about "heavy"?
How is a band "the heaviest"? Is it the lyrics? The sound?

And if you mean that these bands have meaning to their lyrics, you should really take another listening.
"Reign In Blood"? That song has like no meaning at all.
I love it, but it has no meaning whatsoever.
And those bands we've mentioned that you've heard have actually great lyrics, they give meaning if you understand and know their sound, their image, their genre.

Opeth is one of the bands I know with the deepest, most meaningfull lyrics.
And they make concept albums, so "skipping topics left and right" is not possible.

And really, GWAR ripping off Cannibal Corpse.
They have totally different sounds and styles.
Cannibal corpse is grind/deathcore while GWAR is something I would like to call trash/punk metal.

You should listen a bit more.

you have a real good point there Gandizzl. indeed how do you devine heavy? and I agrea that it is unfair to compair complete different styles. Why not state the heaviest black or death metal band. and if you just wanne discuse the band that makes the most noice why not unclude Speed Core Metal and Chaos Metal?

Yeah, Gandizzl is right, those bands aren't really that "heavy" compared to other bands.. Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, Immortal, etc.. Are way heavier than the one's listed on this post. But those bands are classified in the "Black metal" genre. Devildriver is good. Espicially their song "Hold back the day" really love the guitar playing.
