Love, Money, Fame, or Truth...

Henry David Thoreau, a writer in the mid-1800's and main writer or the Transcendental Literary Movement, once stated:

"Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth."

So, thinking upon that statement, would you choose truth over love, money, or fame? If not, what else would you choose?

I choose Truth...because money and fame cannot buy my happiness in life, and I don't believe in true love without honest. To me, there is no life without truth.

True, but money makes the world go 'round. I mean, you'll have a hard time surviving in the real world without it. Love is great, but would you rather be a love sick bum on the streets, or a rich single guy? (I choose the latter) Just because you're famous, doesn't mean that you're famous for something good. Mike Tyson is famous...and we all know how that story goes.

So, I'd narrow it down to truth and money. Money is power in the capitalist market of America, but truth and honesty is held above just being loaded. Once you blow all that money, and that's the only thing you had, you're srewed in life. No friends, no pride, no honesty. So, in the end, I guess I choose truth.

Some options have better advantages:

Money - Now, you'll never be trully loved, you will probably be lied to, or have to tell lies yourself.

Love - Just another lie, then? You'll have nothing but the illusion that you're being loved? better off with money, then! you can BUY "love" and live it like an illusion anyway, who needs this crap?

Fame - And have everybody know everything about you? Where's privacy? You can't even walk on the streets without being recognised. Either good fame or bad, they'll both be the death of you.

Truth - Oh, sure! Put it this way: People come back from their miserable day/occupation and expect to watch TV, and see Lies. They like to make love to their partners. They also wish to earn a lot currency and become famous to make them feel "special" in life. Now, you let all of them know: What they say on TV is fake, you're all being manipulated! You've only been distracted by an illusion to keep you from knowing the truth, that your wifes/husbands were cheating on you and the rich people haven't got much of a life(them always busy trying to keep their money comming) and the famous persons are paedofilles/brainless/ignorant/regular people that don't really mean what they say and haven't got a free will of their own when they cast. Immagine what chaos would that be.
By knowing All Truth, the world around you will have no more sense, it'll make you sick.
You are a human being that requires a bit of all the four elements. Choose only one, that eliminates all the others and you will find yourself treated inhumanly.

I'd say Love. I'm a romantacist therefore I find love the most valuable out of the others, I would say truth second. But I'd rather have love than money, money cannot buy you love. If you're rich you're automatically used-in my thoughts. Will someone really love you? or are they after that bank account?

Is any of them desirable? Truth is highly subjective. Love fades. Fame is highly overrated. Money will drain out of your hands like water into the desert.

I would preffer love too. But if this love is iNfEct and fAKE, than who the hell needs it? It's just the same crap as the "love" you get from money.
Why not Love? because it doesn't have Truth!
Therefore:

Truth = (money+love+fame) x 0
Love = Truth x 0
Fame= 0

I believe in trust, without it you be decieving(sp?) people, and if there is no trust how may love form? Money and Fame have many lies and bad things behind it, but good things as well. I would just pick trust

Money is just an object of greed. Meh.

Fame is also an object of greed if you think about it.

Truth is the best I think, because it has the most meaning.

This is almost a tough decision. Life isn't all truth, but it isn't all a big lie, either. Are you saying that I'll be totally broke if I choose love? That's no fun... Not too realistic, either. Can't I balance it out somehow?

25% Money

If it is possible to seek a true truth, I would seek it. I rather like the concept of giving something my all for the realization of a truth. Information is something that can never be collected in its entirty, but I'd rather be buried with an answer that living a life without even attempting to seek one. Love, sure. Look at the last two words of my last paragraph. Of course, love often leads to self fulfilled wishes, and the ignorance of truth in order to maintain that love. Thus love will most often conflict with truth. No quote for this, just some minor, one-sided experience.

Fame is something we would all like. We all want to be known or to be remembered for something once our existances cease to be. But we can live without it, though it would be challenging to the human ego and pride. We can get along well by ourselves for a certain period of time but eventually we would need to be around other people. Though my God-complex would like to say that I could live by myself, my logic tells be this is not true.

Wealth...we all want wealth, deny it as you may. The pointlessness of this desire is astounding. I dislike those who say that money cannot buy happiness, as human materialism disproves this. On the other hand, in a world without wealth, we would not be tempted to lie, cheat, and fight one another. The goal of all humans is wealth in some form. Be it Truth, Love, Fame, or Money.
