Favorite Giant Robot Game

From Armored Core to Steel Battalion, what's your favorite game featuring Giant Freaken' Robots.



Mine is Gearhead, the worlds only Mech-Roguelike. It has more fun customization than any other giant robot game. I can take the legs off of my Mining bot and replace it with wheels, and add 3 pairs of arms from 3 different robots. Such a combination would suck, mind you, but I like that I can do it. The game doesn't suck in personal scale combat either. Some of the stats are funky in an exploitable way... There are people who train their personal scale characters to kill Mechs with their bare hands... But all around fun. Just... go find and join the Yahoo discussion group, download the guides, and figure out how to set the mech controls to rougelike-type by default. The other controls are lame.

I'm sticking with my Mechwarrior 4 Compilation pack. Which is Mechwarrior 4, Mechwarrior 4: Black Knight, and Mechwarrior 4: Mecenaries. Out of all of them, I prefer Mercenaries. Why? Because I'm a greedy bastard!

I bought that pack, but my computer decide it was too lame to play it. My computers like.. less than 2 years old. And not a cheap net PC either.

Also, another I'm fond of is Gundam Side Story 0079 for Dreamcast....

I miss my the days when a system's every game could be a great game. Man, the more I think about it, the more I can be assured Dreamcast was the best system ever.

Mech Assault for me, partially because I haven't played very many others. Ok, probably solely because I haven't played many others.

I don't suppose Metal Gear Solid would count, huh? Well lets see, I guess Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon, would be my favorite. The game had a huge campaign mode with over 100 missions, about 30 different MS, an awesome Arcade mode with 13 missions, and the ability to unlock the enemy's MS and keep it for yourself to use in both Arcade and Versus mode, and an awesome Versus mode where you can use almost any MS from the 0079 series to fight your friends. Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space was also a very good game, just a poor multiplayer section, and Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam, but the missions were too repetitive.

i would say Gundam: ZEON VS Fedreadtion (i think that's the game's name) but i love that game.

I can't say I've played that many, since I've never been a fan of the genre.
But I guess I'd say Heavy Gears. That game was pretty fun.

Not in the least.

I always play with large loadouts of medium-ish lasers in every mech game but AC (I use Bazookas there). Have trouble not overheating sometimes, but infinite ammo, decent damage and heat damage are a good trade off.

In the Mechwarrior games, I found a brutally effective combo of Clan Mediums and C LBX Autocannon. It amounts to about 14 tons at the least, and you can add more lasers on heavier mechs. But, everything within 350 meters will fall.

I loved Z.O.E second runner the first game was pretty, bleh. I always really liked mechassualt, mainly because they were more action oriented than its older brother mech warrior. And of course front mission 3 is pretty great. And although it feels impossible in spots robotech battlecry was a lot of fun too. Along with R.A.D but I only played a demo of that, seemed good though. I would buy it if i could find a blasted copy, same goes for zoe 2.

Robotech Battlecry was awesome. I wish that would have been XB Live enabled for the two player battle mode. Heck, it could have been kinda like Halo 2 in a way for online play. Team Battles, Clans, Head to Head, Rumble Pits, and etc.

Great game. Lots of fun.

The greatest achievement of Z.O.E 2 was the fact that even though you were just mashing buttons, on screen it would do whatever you thought it should do. I don't even think it mattered what buttons you pushed, simply the act of touching a button formed some kind of soul-link with the game. It's amazing, now that I think back on it. They should do that in an FPS or a Puzzle game or something.
