Subtitled or Dubbed?

I have nothing against dubbing, if it's done well. But too often it isn't. I don't understand Japanese too much, but it just seems to me that the Japanese voice actors are usually much better. Actually, I haven't watched any cartoon (not just anime) where dubbed version would be better. I think that it may be that the Japanese actors put a little more feeling into it, so it sounds much better... And sometimes (well, close to half of the time, actually) the dubbed characters voices aren't even close to their original.

I admit, some animes or settings would be much more appropriate with English voices. But, for example, in Hellsing, the voice actors should be Brits, not American. And the little I watched them dubbed... Well, the dub wasn't as bad as in many others, but still worse than the original voices.

And everything else being equal, I go for the original. So Jap with subs, that is.

The dubbed for anime is really bad. The girls ae always to me seem to happy even when they are crying.

The only anime I'll watched dubbed is YuYuHakusho.

Hmm...Sometimes, I like to listen to the subtitles, and sometimes I like to listen to the dubs. Both are cool, but when comparing them afterwards, I've always like the subtitles better because the dubbers sometimes choose the worst possible voices EVER for their character. It's just so much fun laughing at the dubs...-.Sighs contentedly.- Ahhh...Good times, good times...

I would watch subbed anime before the dubbed anyday. The dubbed versions cut out so much stuff! and i usually like all the things that dubs edit out.

A lot of times it seems as though they (dub) aren't even trying to find voices that sound like the original.

Plus,about the pronounciation.

Even if they did miraculously pronounce the words right,it wouldn't 'fit in' with the rest of their sentence.

Think about it.Can you imagine Japanese words mixed in in an English sentence?

It's either that,or change the words completely,and both those options are pretty bad,if you ask me.

So,I strongly prefer the subs over the dubs.

Hehehe! I agree with your point Athena-sama. I prefer both. I like to watch the subtitles and learn a little Japanese. The dubbing is alright. I enjoy most of Funimations' dubs. The Naruto dub could do better...

Always subtitels! I don`t like dubbing! And I love the japanese voices! I heard some anime in 4 or more languages and they were all terrible agaist the japanese!

Subtitles, unless the dub is really really good than id choose dub thats why i voted for dub and cause no1 else did and i felt bad for it, but i prefer subtitles over dub. But it depends on the anime and how good the dubbing is

Most Anime that I watch, I am strictly a dubbie *dodges rocks*....I just prefer to hear it in the language that I know. If I want to read...well that's what I got Manga for.

That's my opinion too. For instance, I dispise the old Speed Racer dubbed as all the voices are not in sync with their mouth movements and the most people speak like they're in a panic and Luffy of One Piece sounds like a five year old. Yugioh takes out or distorts much of the important details in the various story arcs. This is why I'm voting subbed

But I love YYH dubbed by FUNmation because nothing of the Japanese culture was taken from it and all the voices (except Kuwabara) fit the characters. And the Dub of Azumanga Daioh the setting remains in tact.

In terms of subs much perfer Kenshin subbed cause I hear all his favorite words and like both the english and subbed verious of Akira because the Japanese did the acting.

YYH is amazing as a dubbed its got be one of the best dubbings around

For me it doesn't really matter as long the voice acting is good. Like in some anime, the English voice acting is more acceptable, to me, then the Japanese one. So I actually perfer both, though I'm totally picky when it comes to the company that's liscening the anime(like Funimation. *shutters*). But I mainly watch the dubbed version if I have the DVD.

I've watched dubbed anime, and some are good. But, I like subbed anime better. The reason for this is that there are jokes and situations that can't be translated well into any other language. When an anime is subbed, explanations are usually included with some of the dialogue (like jokes about Kanji written in katakana).

Definately Japanese with Subtitles. I really have nothing against Domestic however it tends to edit out alot of scenes and in some cases make it into something else all together.And changing the language.For example Inuyasha,In the Japanese version there is swearing and grown talk which gives it a more mature feel.Besides all that I really enjoy anime in it's original form.
