Is there really a such thing as fear?

I think of fear as an excuse to something that you don't understand. Can we really rely on what we know and on what we don't know.

Yes there is fear but there is no such thing as rational fear. Either your fear is something that you don't understand or its a fear that is completely pointless. You can understand something and still be afraid of it.

Fear is real. This is like asking if saddness or joy are real. All are emotions, and each one is there. It's like heat, you cannot see it( most of the time), but you can sence it. It's a reaction, when put in a position you are not comfortably you feel fear. This is a human emotion and if it did not exist the world would be much much different and I garentee many more people would be dead.

Meh. Fear. I believe in fear as much as I believe that unicorns are riding the rainbows. Why? Simple. Fear is only something in our heads...just like all other emotions. Our mind makes us think that they truly exist, but they really don't. Fear is merely part of games our minds play. At least, that's my opinion.

I believe very much that fear is a real thing. It's what causes fear that often confuses people. It's more of being afraid of change or the unknown. Or afraid that your actions could affect others. It's just caused by the lack of understanding of what is going on. At least I think so.

fear is just like every other emotion...its all about your state mind...also like every other emotion it is shaped by our exsperinces in our life. If you have a bad exsperince with something your more than likely to be afraid of it. you can also twist and manipulate fear like every other emotion as well.

Asking if fear is real is like asking if television is real.

Same goes for saying you don't believe in it. Just like a religion. You may not believe in it, but that doesn't mean its not there.

Fear is apparently a state of mind. Though I think its more of a subconscious thought, than anything else. It has been classed as an emotion, but then again it could be a psychological thing.

Fear is when your little heart starts pumping really fast and heightens your "fight or flight" instinct. It's a survival thing that all animals use all the time.

Fear is a form of instinct - if I am standing at the edge of a great hight, I fear I could fall and break my bones - not because I don't "understand" it, it's because I know bloody hurts!

Fear is real. I've been afraid. Not of heights or anything. I was afraid of wasps. I was stung when I was four, and my heart still pounds when I see an active wasps nest. Fear keeps us from doing extraordinarily stupid things.

Fear is real but not real at all. It lives in eveyone but it doesn't have a life. It can make you numb but give you feelings of life. It can bring joy and it can bring pain. SO........to answer you question is there really such a thing as fear?

After reading some of these posts it appears that I've got a fear of hypodermic needles because I don't understand them....by saying that, I beleve I just chucked the fearing things because you don't understand them, or because they're unknown out the window somewhat.

What's to understand about needles? They're hollow tubes used with a syringe to inject things into you, or to take blood out of you. I fear them because I have never liked having one jabbed into me since ever. Not because I don't understand them.

It is possible to fear things you don't understand, or don't know about, but that doesn't work for everything. Often there is another psychological reason for fearing something.

What is fear u ask? There is no such thing as fear just incertainty. U told things like... a moster is hiding under ur bed or closet, if u don't go to sleep the boogie man will get u, and also peer pressure. What u r really feeling is the uncertainty of what will happen or what will not happen if u go and try to figure out what is under ur bed or what would happen if u got caught. I might not make any sense but I hope u get a vauge idea of what i am talking about. Though I can't really explain the feeling u get at the bottom of ur waste from it though

I'm afraid of getting hit by a car on a busy intersection, a very valid fear. It isn't ignorance that causes this fear, I understand how an intersection works, and I undersatnd that many people can't drive. So tell me am I being foolish being afraid of being hit by a car on a busy intersection? No, we fear for a reason and that reason is to save our skins. God I'm tired of teen agers pulling this garbage out of their asses.

Fear is just an emotion....Our mind does it all, It makes people experience things that they don't want to see or hear. Fear is real in our minds, But if we didn't have any emotion...fear wouldn't be real...
