Fate: You believe in it, or not?

Well, it's a slightly more complicated question for me to answer. I guess that in this context, I'd vote for "no" I don't believe that there is a divine purpose in events that happen, for instance I don't think there is any inherant reason for existing, we just do. There's no reason why I am the way I am, that's just the way things happened.

I do however believe in pre-destination in a scientific sence of cause and effect. I believe that everything that I will say and do and everything that will happen to me is inevitable. Things happen which will cause a definitive and calculateable change to other things. This isn't to say that the cause and effect have any underlying meaning, that's just the way things happen.

I dont like the idea of Fate. It's like you have no choice in the matter..like if we were meant to do this and this and it will turn out like this..seems kind of pointless, or it just takes out the mistery in life.
i believe that there are some things that are just meant to happen, but it doesnt especifically say how its going to turn up like.

Nope, the idea is rather antiquated the thought that you don't control your own life but some omnipotent power does. But just look at your life and you can see that it's non sense. Did fate make you pick orange soda instead of lime? No it was a choice, one with no harm to be done.

People recognize that it was choice. But when it comes to bigger things like relationships, it was "fate" that drove them together or apart. Nobody likes to take responisbilty for their actions, so it was fate. Fate is merely a combination of cowardice and lazyness, take credit for your own actions don't say it was fate folks.

I Don't look at fate as a pre-determined event.The way that I look at it,is that every little choice that you make will eventually lead up to a one-in-a-million encounter with someone,something,or situation,ect...What I mean by this is that,if you were to change just one of your choices,then it might be possibible that you'll miss that one-in-a-million encounter with something.

So with that said,I guess i'm saying that every little choice you make leads to something that could have easily not have happend, if you were to just do one thing differently.That is my definition of fate.

Like for example. If I do this then this will happen, but if I do this then it can be avoided.

At first I wasn't sure did the whole 'fate'-thing exist, but now I'm sure it does. Some things that happen in my life, they've got something to do with fate. Since I don't believe in God, (well, I do, if you count Bankotsu and Hiten as gods *sweatdrops*) the fate is meant for me. I personally think that there's something that controls our lives, and if it's not God, then what? Fate. Simple as that. But hey, this is only my opinion, if others have something else for their opinions, I'll respect them and their choices.

I believe that man always has control over his fate wether he realizes it or not. Every choice we make in our lives leads us to a different fate. Wether those choices are good or bad it is all up to us.

I don't believe in fate. "Whatever happens is best for the best of all possible worlds" ~ I read that quote from Candide, and I agree with Voltaire that things don't always happen just because they were meant to. Man has control over his own destiny and character, so if we do something foolish or idiotic, we have only ourselves to blame. Dependence upon fate or chance is not responsible. In the end, all you can do is work hard and try to contribute to society, as best you can.

I believe that all of us are born with some kind of predetermined fate, and it's up to US to get our fate back in our control. We are born with the weapons of karma and circumstance, and we must wield them to carve our fate to our liking.

No. Fate does not exist. We mess up our own lives, and refuse to take the blame for it. Or, we subconciously plan our lives out to meet our desires, but even then, we're still creating the so called 'fate'.

Fate exists in the sense that everything you do, think, feel, remember is just one big chain reaction (that started with the big bang). If you were to live your life all over again (from the exact time and place), you would make all the same decisions, and think all the same thoughts all over again.

No, I don't beleive in fate. Everything that happens just happens. And if you say there is a thing like fate, then how do you know? Is it something that happened to you? If so, how do you know it was fate? And if you fined a person you real love and say there was a 1 out of 1000 chance of finding them, realize that chances are that you met over 1000 people. But thats what I think. I just love these kind of threads.
