hmmm.... there two candidate for best anime for 2005 (in my opinion):

Gundam SEED Destiny - sequel to the GS, in the beginning it was quite a hyped and has a fresh storyline, which they focus on the ZAFT side on CE timeline. many intriguing plot and subplot. As the series developed, it became a bit bored and predictive and the ending doesn't cut it at all. GS Final ending is lot better and dramatic than GSD.

Bleach - Since I watched esp 51-52, I fell in love with this great piece of anime , have better plot and characters development, packed with action, lot better than some anime which has long runtime that I had seen before (I wouldn't mention the names)

Final Verdict: Bleach - hands down
