Hmmmm... Soul Calibur 3, Prince Of Persia: The Two Thrones or Battlefield 2 I would say. Or maybe WoW... so many good games....
Yeah, WoW did definitly do good this year.
I live in Switzerland!
Soul Calibur 3 or NHL 2006
btw Dallas Stars are gonna win the Stanley Cup!!!!!
For me this year has been very good for game, graphics are improving and we have had the release of the first 512mb graphics (to my knowledge) card by Nvidia which has really raised the bar, meaning people can finally play games like doom 3 on full settings, especially if in SLI. Anyways my favourite first Person Game of 2005 would have to be First Encounter Assault Recon. The Graphics are the best I have ever seen and the Ai and environment of the game was just outstanding, for the first time we are now getting enemies which not only use HL2’s greatness but take it one step further, we are now getting enemies which communicate, retreat, panic and make their own decisions and react with scenery a lot more stylish and more realistically. Like jumping over walls, using a table for cover, even knocking the table or desk over and dragging it to a good position for cover. Calling for back up est. There is too much to name, and with all the special effects, the great story line and breathtaking sequences and human faces, this has certainly been the best game of the year for me thanks to now having the power to play a power hungry game like this. (And it’s great, and even more so with the slow mo, and with two sequels to follow, I’ve been in game heaven ha-ha)
But the FPS world has not just had that, it has had ID software’s quake 4 which has been greatly anticipated, on the pc and Xbox 360! And this time Xbox did not have to down grade it as much as they had to downgrade doom 3 for the Xbox. IT a great game and provides many hours of fun, shame that it didn’t actually bring any thing new into the FPS world but then again it was running of the doom 3 engine.
And lastly Battlefield 2. This game is just brilliant, apart from the huge download patches, it has been great all the way. With huge action and high pulse settings/situations. And already a great expansion with night fighting!
And this year the future looks even better, with FEAR sequels coming and two of the most anticipated games coming to pc exclusively (So far) half life 2: Aftermath and STALKER shadow of Chernobyl. This year is going to be a good one for all gamers, including console gamers with the now powerful engines, life like games are within reach.

PDZ wasn't all that good, the multiplayer is pretty ace though.Originally Posted by naked monkey
Hey Richard, if you've got an Xbox 360, you should really check out Condemned: Criminal Origins, it's developed by Monolith, the guys behind F.E.A.R.
It's one of the better singleplayer games of the year.

No I haven’t got a 360 just a PC gaming machine but I will check on monoliths website thank you ^.^, I must say I am impressed how they use the FEAR engine for condemned (its a shame the game does not have all the special effects and lighting, plus AI but it is still ace, from what I’ve been told), now it just needs to come onto PC T.T! I sometimes feel that all the money that went into my gaming machine that I built was a waste lol. I do wish that Monolith would give the console gamers FEAR. Although it is a very big eater, I hope 360 and ps3 gets it, seeing as I will be getting the ps3 and my friend has 360.

my bad your right halo and halo 2 are not from 2005. So i would say prefect dark zero is rlly cool so yeah thats my favorite.
Honestly halo 2 (and one) are highly overrated, they are fun games but that's it, no where near as great as everyone claims they are. Oh, mainstream gamers can be so annoying that way.Although, Halo 2 was one of the best games around in 2005, yes.
For me the consoles sucked, the last couple of ontsh were the worst everythign was just gettign sequel after sequel. I just yawned as more FPS and hack and slashes came out, the two most tired genres of all time. How can peoepl play the same damn ww2 game over and over? I don't get it, and hwo many dynasty warriors games do we really need, I know it isn't as many as they are putting out. The best console game of 2005 is resident evil 4 (came out last january) without a doubt, and that's followed by shadow of the collosus but I haven't played that one to much yet.
All of the really good games were on the DS this year. Phoenix wright was fantastic (didn't get to play it until this week though), as was trauma center and castlevania. Mario kart didn't leave my DS for abotu a month, even though I was never all that good at it. Sonic rush was also a winner, the DS just had lots of fanatstic games. And the new year is shapping up to be a good one too. Princess peach looks like it could be a fun platformer, but I'm going to be a smidge embarrassed buying it though. I still ahve to see how good it is though.
2006 for the current conoels also looks pathetic, teh x box is falling off in a hurry. And juts about every ps2 agme coming out is a sequel. Aside from okami of course, which no one is going to buy anyway. Aside from amyeb me and the staff of x-play. There are three cube games that look good to me odama, kirby, and chibi robo all look great. And I have high hopes. I don't think we will see another spurt of good games for a while yet though.
God of War came out this year, didn't it? I think so... Anyways, it was a brilliant game, and I enjoyed it more than I've enjoyed any game in a long time. Very smooth ^__~
And Psyconauts; it was a different sort of fun. The gameplay was so unusual; I loved the Milkman Conspiracy level.
I only have gotten to play Resident Evil 4 once (at a friends house) but it was incredible. The new over-the-shoulder style of shooting was refreshing from the awkward camera angles the other games had presented.
I'll probably list more.. I can't remember what cames came out this year o__O
I'm not a big gamer, but from what I did play, GT4 rocked my world.
Yeah, it would be really cool to get F.E.A.R. to the Xbox 360, since my PC's graphics card can't handle it very well.
And all the better graphics card with a minimum of 256 MB of memory, needs PCI Express, and I've only got regular PCI and AGP.
So if I would be getting myself a new graphics card before the summer, I would have to get a new motherboard aswell, and I won't bother with that, since the it would be a great expense for me.

Yes, it’s only worth it if you are addicted to high graphic FPS games like me lol. As other types of games don’t need that much power, that’s why new cards and processors are always tested against games like doom 3. Also I think, as a British person myself. The reason WW2 games and any game that involves our war history sells so well is because we can not get enough of them. When I worked in a pc game shop, Call of duty and Call of duty 2 sold out so quickly it was unbelievable. I mean I have both and I love them but not as much as the single adventure FPS's. Well that’s what I have noticed in my country, there is not one guy I know in university who plays FPS games that does not have a WW2, it wont be long until they start making more close to home war games like the Falklands. I mean battlefield became a lot more popular here when people could play as British SAS in the expansion. War pride heh lol.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted! The best racing game to shake up 2005!
Are you good enough to survive the streets of Rockport and evade the cops?
Resident Evil 4 it still is the best survivor horror game ive ever played it was overlooked before cause it was on the GC at first but people bought it when it came out for the PS2 both versions are great i think its the best one.
Can one of you explain to me the obssesion with the best graphcis out there? this idea has always been lost on me. That isn't to say I don't like good looking games, but I have never been driven to buy a new system because it has great graphics. I have been playing more of shadow or the collosus and it truly is a great game, I don't think it will have much replay though.

Shadow of the Collosous(sp?) is an all boss game; replay value may not be that great. Rather like Ico; a great game the first time around, but you'll get bored quick the second time.
Graphics aren't what make a game "the best"; what makes a game great to me is the fun value, the graphics (they do count!) and how unique the game is. I loved Psyconauts because it was so unique and fun; it isn't a game like Zelda (I love the series, but no offense) where the gameplay is usually the same.
Also, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Loads of fun.

I dunno overrated. i dont think so. I like the game for multiplayer only. I was never good at legandary and stuff like that.

i thought GOD OF WAR was pretty good.
wonderful sig made by Vagary
Right now... I'd say Rise of a Soldier for the Xbox (and PS2) is the best 2005 game I played. Followed closely by Battlefield 2.
I may add DoA4 and Madden 06 for the 360 as well but I still haven't been able to play them yet...
