serious anime shopping question

I was just shopping for some anime and I came across this:

both are from the same website

Both are Chobits box sets

both are english dub

both are 650 mins

both are "perfect collection"s

one is 24 episodes other is 26

whats the differance? and where did the 2 'missing' episodes vanish to if one has 2 episodes more but both last the same amount of time?

actually I looked at a few other web sites, 2 say 24, the other 2 say 26, and this one has both.

it seems both were released by different companies... im confused now

If I recall correctly, there were 2 recap episodes in Chobits that introduced NO new material, so probably one of the companies decided to omit them.

I think both of them are bootlegs as they are both region free which is a bad sign

I thought Chobits had 2 seperate box sets...One with episodes 1-12 and the other with episodes 13-26...

Region free doesnt mean anything like that , i have ... about 3 or 4 completed boxed sets of anime that are all region free , i ordered them , but they are all 100% completely origional . Like my neon genesis set for example , this one was released by a different distributor , but under the same license and content material as all the rest , but it is on 3 dvd's instead of 8 or 9 , but 100% authentic .

I'd be safe and go with the 26 eps , just to be sure.

Well you should say that their 100% fake as you have the whole serise on 3 discs (which is a obvious sign of a bootleg) and as both of those chobits boxsets are on 3 discs then that is another mark to say that they are fakes (but I'll post those links on another forum to confirm my suspisions)

Whatever all I'm saying is that as the set is only 3 discs and not 8 then it should be raising major red flags (as a set having less discs then it should is a rule of thumb for spotting a bootleg)

Heh... I have the whole series of "Nadia, the secret of blue water" on 4 DVDs ... and it's all totally original ... so, how many DVDs doesn't really tell if the anime is original or not ...

A Hong Kong company (where your bootleg comes from) does NOT have the right to release Eva with an English dub or with English (or their version of it) subs. In fact, they don't have a license to release any version of Eva for anything.

The fact is this: Your opinions are based on the experiences you have. While your opinions are based on facts that you have seen, you do not know every situation out there. Those sites you posted are good references. They do not back up your claims that these people are wrong. Logic dictates that situations may exist that you do not yet know about.
