Yeah so while I was on my way to work yesterday, I got in a horrible wreck. My car split into 3 pieces. Some dumb driver in front of me in the lane next to me decided to kind of swerve into my lane and he was like 2 centimeters away from me so I panicked and swerved over to avoid hitting the other driver. And the back end of my car ended up hitting a pole, which tore my whole backseat/trunk totally off of my car, and I guess I hit the pole so hard that it came out of the ground and fell over..The other half of my car that I was in I guess just hit and scraped along the white side barrier and my car finally stopped when it hit the big yellow tubs that are filled with sand on the side of the road...It was the most scariest thing in the world. Everyone who saw it thought I was going to die, or already died. No one believed that anyone could survive that kind of an accident. I think the seatbelt saved my life, along with the airbag. So make sure you always wear a seatbelt and that your airbags work perfectly.
To everyone who drives, Drive safe, and pay attention. If you guys think i'm like weird for saying this stuff, you have no idea unless you have been the one behind the wheel, who had to make the safest decision in order to avoid an accident, I didn't want any other cars or people involved so I made sure I was the only one.
Alls I can say is that i'm so lucky and so happy to still be alive.

I was in the same situation 2 months ago. Except when i swerved out the way i went into the next lane beside me, and luckily, no one was there so it was a clear dodge. I should probably use the horn next time just incase i hit a pole.

My car has a red alert light if my seatbelt is ever unbuckled, and for me, being in a car doesnt feel right without a seatbelt. My only concern is the airbags... i hope they dont let me down! I think i should be fine, i drive a 2003 Honda/Acura Civic hatchback. Got it last year.

And I can't stress wearing seatbelts enough. Two weeks ago my uncle and his friend were out drinking and decided to drive home (that was stupid enough in the first place) and the car ended up flipping. My uncle, who was wearing his seatbelt, walked away from the accident. His friend, who hadn't put on his seatbelt, died.

Last winter I escaped a terrible car wreck myself, so I'm know first hand how terrifying it must have been for you.

Y'know, I kind of feel like an old timer when I keep telling my buddies to put on their seat belts every time they're out racing in their BMW's and upgraded Hondas without wearing them...and I don't doubt I probably kind of annoy them sometimes because of that.

But it's frightening that one has to go through such a thing before some sense is finally knocked into their heads, me included. :/ (I'm not referring to you though Shyana, as I realise it wasn't really your fault)

Also... Save the racing for the track. Drag racing is only 20 bucks a night for PLENTY of publicity, official timecards, and a safe, racer friendly environment.

Auto-X is only $25 for a day (pending on region membership rules), and there's plenty of people there who can teach you how to really drive your car.

There's a number of other racing genres, and all of them have a class for your lil rice rocket.

And don't BS about the price cuz if you can afford to mount a playstation in your dash and stuff a turbo under your hood, I'm sure you can afford the racing fees.

But save the racing for the track. It's safer for you, and it's safer for the rest of the road. And NO, the cops don't stalk the race track to give you fix-it tickets.

Most cars have an alarm of some kind of flashing light whenever you don't wear your seatbelts; it's rather handy too, because from then on you'll always associate an annoying beeping noise to wearing your seatbelt ^^

Paying attention and abiding by the rules of the road ARE very important; my grandfather is a terrible driver, and I hate riding with him, due to the fact he is one of those people that swerve out in front of you or cut you off.

in one year this last one I have been in 3 car accidents, one being my falt, destroying $60,000 worth of property. got up and walked out of them all. my car insurence company is crapping all over the place from the last one.

My apologies... I just figured since we were in the ballpark of car accidents that it might've been appropriate.

Seatbelts are important, as are a number of other safe driving practices (defensive driving, following distances, blinkers). It's always better to avoid/prevent an accident in the first place. The freeway is scary because no one drives safely. People drive very aggressively, and then when you have kids racing through an already dangerous scenario, it makes things 10 times worse!

Yes, wear your seatbelt, but being aware of your surroundings while your behind the wheel helps you more than any airbag.

considering i only had liability insurance. I had to deal with the fact of 3500$ thrown away. So we don't get insurance for the car itself, kinda sucky. I miss my car ;.; But anyways yeah, my insurance will also sky rocket since i have been in an accident. so I have to learn to say goodbye to money for awhile. Hah.

I get full coverage on every thing. and I payed like $500.oo to replave a 14000.00 car, then llike 500 for a 500.oo car that the insurance co gave me like 1200 for, then my moms jimmy like 2000. and they will pay my hospital bill. loyds of lundon. hehe!!!!!!!!!

Which company are you with? Most companies will see this not-at-fault accident and not charge you for it.

Always make sure that you have good car insurance. Liability is a start, but you need total insurance. I cough up the extra money every month so that I have 300/500/300 insurance. It's incredibly important incase you ever are at-fault and hurt someone or if you severely hurt yourself.

Glad you're alright. Glad you wore a seat belt. I had a friend who was not as lucky because she didn't wear her seat belt. She's dead today because of it.

Umm i'm not sure which company I am with. But hopefully i'll be able to just keep the same amount of money for insurance if we do the whole thing where it wasn't my fault. I can only wish for the best, that I find a car soon, that i'm strong enough to get behind the wheel with confidence and drive again.
