Singing Issue

I have a friend and she is suddenly into singing. She wants to try out for lots of singing after school events. Even at church she signed up for Adult Choir instead of singing up for hand bells like she said she would. I asked her why she is suddenly into singing and she told me that she was always into singing I just never noticed. The truth is she has never been into singing until just now. I'm afraid that with all of this singing that the singing will get in the way of our friendship.

Should I be happy that she is trying to peruse her dreams in singing?

Yes, you should be happy she is pursuing her dream. BUT...you shouldn't let it get in the way of your friendship. Oh, how should I say this...Ah, yes! One of the best things for a friend to do is this kind of situation is to have the other's back, cheering them on, not letting them quit, so on and so forth. Although, you shouldn't let the friendship dwindle.

I've never heard of singing getting in a way of a friendship. Unless its like celebrity singing or what not.


Now, if she sings bad, I can see why that would be a problem.

Totally support her, maybe go to her choir practices or something? I mean, what if she gets discovered and get famous?! And then like..You get to go backstage at all her shows. That'd be rad. And yeah I agree with Kyo..singing getting in the way of a friendship? o.0 Kind of weird, But yea.

This is somthing that she really wants to do. Sometimes when I ask her about it she just brags about how she is going to get into all of these things and the tryouts aren't even untill like untill October for most of the things she wants to get into.
Even if she gets into all of the things I couldn't go to any of her practices because our Chours teacher if really strict on who can attend ceritan things.

Um...yes. That's like telling someone going for their Masters that its a stupid idea because they said they'd be your friend forever. x_X Just doesn't work that way. Support the girl..handbells suck anyway.

I believe individual hobbies can bring people together if treated correctly. As it was said above...be supportive of her. And there's no reason you couldn't find a hobby on your own for those times when she's busy with hers, or hang out with other people. Neither of those makes you a poor friend. Letting a friendship you obviously care about die because she's doing something you enjoy DOES.

Heck, if it gets to the point where she really seems to be neglecting you, there's no reason you can't talk honestly about it with her. A friendship should never have to be one-sided.

Well i sing in a band and we are all over the place and dont see any of my friends too much. But we are still friends and thats all that matters.

I dont think she will put her singing dreams before her friends. If she does then you deserve better friends than that.

well I have to admit music takes up alot of time.
I have lost alot of my friends that aren't musicians since I left shool simply because I now go to a music universtiy and I have more in common with them. but my friends who aren'y musos support me alot. They put up with all my rehearsals.
Just be there and support her. Explain the situation.
