Has anyone else heard about the Grand Theft Auto 'Hot coffee' mod? If not it was a mod on the pcc version of San Andreas that, in San Andreas you could get girlfriends and take them on dates and then go back to her house for 'coffee' or you should know what, the mod unlocked a mini game where you are controlling Carl during the you know what. It's made the coffee much 'hotter' and now the government has fined Rockstar two million dollars because they didn't submit this content to the ESRB. The ESRB never knew about it and only gave San Andreas a Mature rating, when it now has an AO. Rockstar denies that the content was ever on the disc in the first place and that "...a hacker had added it while the game was being developed."

The modder who uncovered the hidden detail says "All of the sexual content was already on the game. All I did was uncover some walls that were not set up good enough to protect it."

Rockstar countered the statement saying that any walls put up were thought out and organized and that the modder must have been hacking the game during creation. Now rockstar has admitted that they did put the content on the disc in some words speaking out.

Now that San Andreas has an AO rating and had content not submitted to the ESRB, the government has begun a plan to end the video game industry period. Who is agreeing with them? Who wants to end video games forever because of some sex in a game?

Ok, this is where Hillary Clinton takes it toooooo friggin' far. I'm sorry, the hot coffee cheat was so stupid, and so blown out of proportion. To quote hillary clinton's arguement - "Pornography is very accessable to the youth of today". She failed to mention that one problem is INTERNET, not games. It's not a game's fault that if it says "M+" and the store owners don't act upon the rating, then it's not the game's freaking fault. That's so pointless, and scrutionizing to games. This kind of stuff pisses me off, because it's not like the politicians pay attention to the important issues, like GAS and the WAR, but to freaking Games? Yes, let's blame it on the companies, instead of blaming it on the parents who just don't care. We're always looking to place the blame somewhere else, and come on, just accept responsibility for your own wrongings. Hillary is just still angry at bill, because hillary couldn't please Bill anymore.

This Hot Coffee thing will blow over. Some of you might of been around for the Mortal Kombat era. You youngin's won't remember, but it got a LOT more controversy then this is. That game was insane, pulling out spines and what not.

My EBGames still sells Grand Theft Auto, San Andres. You have to be 18, but it's still being sold.


It really is RockStar's fault though, it was built into the game. If anyone should crumble, it should be RockStar, and they should be taken down.

I'm still surprised it wasn't AO previously for violence O.o, it was banned in a lot ofother countries for the violence, but it's just getting AO for some hidden sex game? They were saying "children acessing pornography is now less protected than ever" or something like that. First of all, it's already rated M, if a parent lets their kids play that, they're horrible parents. and Secondly, they were okay with the Killing, hi-jacking, vandalising,and gangs!?!?! I'm sorry, but what do you think kids are gonna get from playing these games, are they gonna go out and have sex, or join a gang and break the law because it looks cool in the game?

And with the whole thing about hiding it from the ERSB, They just wanted their game to be open to a broader audience, and if the ERSB didn't give it AO for the violence, or the fact that you can find hookers and have sex with them in your car, then they diserved to have missed it.

that's just my opinion on all this, I'm sure there has to be someone who agrees with me.

Not really end it, just get it through parents' thick heads to watch what their kids play. I can recall many times when some oblivious parent buys their 6 year old GTA or anything like it without even knowing, even if the clerk at the store (wherever it may be) is warning them about it.

The point is, while it may have already been on the disc, you have to go out of you way entirely, use a codebreaker or whatever, and intentionally hack into the code, it isn't technically unlockable, since you have to do a whole bunch of **** to get to it anyway. And with that game, what does it matter, you can freaking blow peoples head off with a rocket launcher, run over people and splatter them on the road. You can get prositutes into the car. You can't get to it unless you REALLY want to see it, so I don't see the problem. They ARE making a version for the X-Box and PS2 that has the code removed, and they made a patch for the PC version that got rid of it. I figure once that comes out, then my originial copy might be worth something.

2: You really think gamers will listen to the goverment?

3: If the USA goverment does manage to end the video game industry, well tough luck for Amerika, but they have no say on what will happen with the industry in other countries. I'll just have fun with Killzone instead of Halo.

To my understanding, having "coffee" at a girlfriend's house only allowed an outside-the-house view, with camera shaking and suggestive comments. There was no way to get a close up of Carl and his dame-of-the-evening; you can't physically see them bumping uglies.

Even after reading up on the subject, I'm still not convinced that Rockstar and Take-Two should be penalized for what they've done. Even if they did leave such "pornographic content" in the coding, they also made substantial efforts to prevent it from being accessed in unmodified versions of the game. Which begs the question. Why are consumers flipping out about this? If the content can't be accessed, should they care? Should a change in a game's rating permit a class action lawsuit to be taken?

The San Andreas games are being bought by consumers in their socially acceptable forms. As far as I know, you can't access the mod with a PS2. But that doesn't stop PC users from getting the mod. If some horny idiot unravels the code for some crap novelty, it's his own business. Personally, I wasn't even interested in the intimacy this game shows.

Mainstream corrections such as this shouldn't be lawfully targeted, especially if Rockstar made conscious efforts to keep people from viewing this stuff. If a grandmother buys an age-restricted product for her grandson three years under the age limit, she should be held responsible, not the video game company. That the game was recently reclassified into an AO rating shouldn't matter. She shouldn't be giving her 14 year old grandson the video game, even by Mature rating standards.

Couple of things I'd like to point out, which I have marked in bold. First off, from the pictures I've seen, you do actualy see Carl and whatever girlfriend he's with at the time going at it like rabbits. In fact you can even change their position. And secondly, you can get the mod on the PS2 version. Action Replay (a cheat cd for the PS2) codes have been released in a not-so-recent PS2 games magazine in the UK that unlock the mod.

well this is what happend to the anime industry in England, moms would go out and buy there little kids Legend of The Overfied, because its animated and they think all animated stuff is for kids, even though it has a big red 18 stiker on it, then the press started sayin "anime is nothing but cartoon porn" wich put a REALLY bad light on it and ruined the Anime Industry in england, luckly its getting back.

but if people keep reacting like this to certain games then the press will just say "all games are bad", and in most countrys, most peeps believe what the press say and will change there opinions to what the mass media say

And what's up with that "Hot Coffee" mod? Anyone who has seen it must agree that it's just plain stupid. It ruins the whole gameplay, and it does actually "ruin" your saves.
