No it wasn't, dragon warrior came out before final fantasy but they came out only a few years apart. So your ff of the old days comment is meaningless, not that anyone really needed me to figure that out.dragon warriors ( which is basically FF in the old days )
And i don't play many rpgs I'm a tactical gamer. Frankly i don't care about a games story since most of the time they are garbage anyway. There are exceptions of course but I'm saying in general. I like tactical agmes for the same reason i enjoy shooters i love having my skills tested seeing how good i really am.
Dragon quest is alright. Breath of Fire? What about freakin' Fire Emblem? Those games are "The" bomb. xD
I can't think of anymore at the moment. Shadow Hearts, Maybe? Star Ocean? I know i've posted in here before about good games.

Um... does Zelda: Ocarina of Time count? Cause if not then I guess EQ. I hate the turn base fighting in most RPG's. EQ is quite a bit more interactive than FF.

Arc the Lad 1-5 is my favorites... personally i have been playing them for years starting from the arc the lad collection...

Xenogears....one my favorite rpg ever....graphics arent that good but it has a really confusing but good story, and its a really good game ^^
