I dont know if there has been a thread like this before in the past but i was just thinking What if Final Fantasy never actually existed and was never made which game would be classed as the pinultimate rpgs series then?, or even which rpg would be classed as 'second best' to Final Fantasy?
I have thought of this and it may sound sad but to the people who love Final Fantasy- could you really imagine a world without Final Fantasy?
Also which would you class as the next best game to Final Fantasy ?- would it be Star ocean? Diablo? Grandia?
IF anyone thinks that there is a better rpg then feel free to post, i know people have different opinions, but id like to see which people would class as the best rpg if Final Fantasy never existed?

That is a scary thought. I am personally a final fantasy maniac and i think that if there was final fantasy, that would make rpg playing a lot duller. But if a had to choose, i would say that Grandia or kingdom hearts or maybe........ ah crap!!!! Final fantasy kicks all teir buts except for kingdom hearts. We all have to face it. There just arent many games that could take on the final fantasy "mantle of Glory" so to speak. I think the gamers of the world would be greatly saddened if Final Fantasy stopped producing its first class games. And that is the truth.

i think that alot of rpg fans wouldent be rpg fans because
final fantacy sets the
standard for all other rpg games

Were Final Fantasy to never exist, Enix would still be Enix, king of japan's RPGs, and the US would still consider RPGs a niche market.


The DW/DQ series is so much more popular than anything else in Japan that it's illegal for themto release it on a weekday because of the mass cutting schools would see. I'm not kidding: NO ONE WOULD LIVE THEIR LIFE. It would just be infinite lines on a work day, halting business as they know it. Square is so much lesser-known that they're EnixSquare in Japan, and most of Square's top developers can't do any of their own big projects because Enix just wants the square folks to churn out junk to fill the space between DQ releases.
