Isn't there a class you can take at a school or college or something? That's the best way to learn it... especially if the teacher knows what he's talking about. LoL.
But anyway. There's this thing called "Ultimate Japanese", it's a book with some CDs to listen to... it's the best thing I've come across outside of a class. I tried this one computer program and that didn't help at all. =/
Here's the info and stuff from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846
yah same here we dont have japenese we have spanish, german, french, sign lnaguage, latin and some others but thats about it.
Forgot to mention- there is a downside to that. All the dialogue is written in romaji, not hiragana or anything. It would be a lot more helpful if it was written in real Japanese... but after about every 10 lessons or so they do have a paragraph or so in hiragana. That's ok. But yeah.
The book we're learning from right now in college is "Genki". http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...415998-8930447 It's got all the dialogue in Japanese... and I kinda like it better than the other one. But that's only 'cause I've got a teacher to teach it to me. ^^;; LoL. Hope one of these helps.
If you just Google for "learning japanese", you'll find plenty of helpful sites that can show you the basics. For more serious study, I recommend an actual textbook. The "Japanese for Busy People" series is good for self-study. My courses have used "Genki", which might be difficult at times without having a teacher around.
If you're shopping for a textbook, please do yourself the favor of picking one that starts you on the writing system right away. In my opinion, learning hiragana and katakana should be the very first thing you do. Once you've gotten into the language, you'll probably find Japanese written in the English alphabet to be borderline unreadable. Japanese has LOTS of different words that are pronounced the same, and there are many times you need the text to be written in kanji to figure out what the word really is.
I think I've heard of things such as Schools and Courses.
But I might be wrong.
The rewards of tolerance are treachery and betrayal.
Ok, your profile says you were born in 89, so you're like what?...16? My advice is to wait a couple of years until you graduate high school and go off to college. Find a college that has Japanese offered. Learn it there. Self-teaching can only go so far.
Or, see if there are any internet courses offered that you can take from somewhere. You know...things that have real teachers, so you can ask an expert questions and such. And, since it's via internet, you don't have to worry about it not being there in your town.

I know there's something you could download off of BitTorrent. My boyfriend suddenly decided I needed to know some Japanese and downloaded it for me. O.o
okay if you have some money go to a store that sells computer cd and other things for your computer near were ever you live and ask the workers if they have a cd for your computer that teaches foriegn langauge and then your done. I'd prefer bestbuy or fry electronic. i already know japanese and have the program on my computer already but trust me japanese is very hard i've taken it three years now and i still get the words mix up. like kanji and saying the sentence in a correct order like knowing to know were to insert the words here are some of the words you need to know when speaking in a sentenc in japenese. no, o, ni, wa, he, de, ga, and there are many other more hope you have fun. heh heh but its worth it in the end
http://www.sf.airnet.ne.jp/~ts/japanese/ will help you
i can tell u a link to spanish but not japenese but thats a very hard language to learn japenese
Well, if you don't have much money and you don't want to wait 'till college, you could allways visit your nearest library and teach yourself a bit. The pronounciation in Japanese is very similar to that of spanish. Minus the fact instead of rolling your double or first sylable r's, you make a L sound. The hardest thing to learn in nihongo, besides grammatical structure, is Kanji. There's just too many letters in kanji. What you should do is start with your simple basics, like looking up in a japanese/english dictionary the hiragana alphebet, right it down and memorize that. Then you can move on to your katakana, basic words and small sentences, so on and so forth. Anoo, jya ne.

Here you can download a program called Nihongo de Kurasou. It's mostly taught in Japanese and aired on Japan's NHK (their version to PBS). It teaches pretty much very useful daily expressions.
Correct order doesn't mean squat sometimes as long as you have the verb at the end. I would pretty much say kanji isn't for everyone and I just plain love kanji .japanese is very hard i've taken it three years now and i still get the words mix up. like kanji and saying the sentence in a correct order like knowing to know were to insert the words here are some of the words you need to know when speaking in a sentenc in japenese
I thought Chinese was way harder than Japanese, even if the grammar structure was more like English.

I have been meaning to take the Japanese Proficiency Language Test for some odd years now, but they always have to host it around finals time. So with me graduating this year, I'll probably take it this year if I'm in Japan by December.
Anyway, you can buy some cool stuff here

or sasugabooks.com

I, myself know how to speak(but not ever word) in japanese, but to me the most important topic to learning japanese is by simply
pronouncing it the correct way. Here i have just a smell sample of using your j-words.
THE FIVE VOWELS A - I - U - E - O - Pronounciation of the five vowels is essential in speaking the Japanese language perfect. Master pronounciing the five vowels, the N (nasal sound), learn to trill the R, and you will speak perfect Japanese. It is also esentiual that you menorize the Japanese vowels in the following order - A, I, U, E, O. Hold a mental picture of this configuration of letters in your mind.
PRONOUNCIATION OF THE VOWELS - A I U E OA - As in fAther, never as in Ate.
I - As in Ink, or like the I in goIng. The Japanese I is always pronounced to sound like the long E in English. It is pronounced exactly like the I in the Spanish language.
II - As in HawaII, pronounced like a very long E as the E in Easy,--- a long EE sound.
U - As in TabU (Taboo)., pronounced like the OO sound in the English word tOO.
UU - As in BOOt, pronounced like a BOO sound as a ghost or spook might make...
E - As the A in ate, as the A in able.
O - As the O in over, as the O in opinion.
OO - Just pronounce the O twice as long as usual.
N - ng - The nasal sound as the ng in bang, sang, fang, or hang
R -(r is very tricky, it's proper way of saying it is by lettng your toung tough the back of you teeth, for example ("ra" is said like "da" but not as hardly spoken)
Matching:
Ma-i/ My Tsu/sue Hai/Hi Mi/Me
Hopes that helps for some...
any thing else needed, just PM me ^_^.
