Man, this thing was a pain. >< I took a stock photo and carefully tweaked it to give it an antiquated look, then took some brushes and made it further grainy and scuzzy. As for the girl, she's meant to stand out slightly from the BG. What needs what?

Oy, umm...
I used a median noise filter in Photoshop initially, then used a smart blur, saved the image, went over to PSP and did a enhance photo filter, did it again. That the info ya need?

ok you could blur a bit the bg, so it has a more natural feeling, then remove the artistic filter on her, try a noise filter...make the brushes on the bg(which are grey now) blend multiply .at the end:
grain>vertical(using a white layer blended linear burn)
and the final touch:
layer>new adjustment>gradient fill>make a gradient sephia tone and blend it linear burn over all(if it's too dark duplicate this gradient layer and set luminosity under the linear burn one)

Along the edge I see a thin white outline, and it looks to me like an extraction issue.

I agree with Pooky and I see some jagged edges along the straight lines. I'd say go in really close and erase the extraction line, use a blurred eraser to smooth out the jags.

A simple kiss can warm an entire body
and if blur doesn't work too well, or maybe you just want to enhance the blending, try a smudge effect.
also, maybe you could make the girl just a bit darker. she seems kind of bright and stands out too much.
that's all i can think of......

Okay fixed the outline; I think.
Anyway, for an FYI the white outline wasn't an extraction error, it was from the layer under her.

All I can say is that maybe enhance the text.. well not totally change all of it but I was thinking make the S after the apostraphe (sp?) to like have a stream of smoke like a after shoot of the gun. hehe Just an idea I thought I share. ^^
it's a bit better. it still has the outline but it is better.the text is a bit blurry. could you try to clear it up a bit?
The text is intentionally blurry. I tried to make it look like the BG. Kinda in a state of disrepair, umm... older-- antiquated you know? As for the outline, I know, I have a real slight outline glow on her, and the smudge tool enhanced it. I personally kinda like it. It's subtle, yet helps her stand out just so. *shrug* Or I can get rid of it either way.

hmm better, anyway I prefer a no-glow version..she stands out of the bg, but too much Xo...why don't you apply a sephia tone on her? just a sephia overlay or multiply...good job.
oh, if u could use a grain filter all over the image it would be great!

Eh, the less filters the better; I think she could stand to have no filters - instead try to blend her in with brushwork, perspective, and opacity.
very nice the gray sulfur FX the faded look and the look of gilt in her eyes it's so sad yet touching
