The name of the series is Charlotte. So who or what is Charlotte? You find out towards the end of this 13 episode story.
Yuu is a high school student with the ability to temporarily take possession of the bodies of others. He uses this power to cheat his way through school, until he is discovered by other power users with different abilities. Told that if he is discovered, the government will seize him for experiments, Yuu agrees to transfer to a special school for power users and assist in tracking down other such kids and convince them not to use their supernatural abilities. It seems cut and dry – mostly dry. For the first half of the series, not much more is done with this concept.
But half way through, an important character dies and the series starts to take on a more dark atmosphere. This is where it actually becomes interesting. Yuu discovers the truth about himself, his family, and the disease that creates power users.
The first half of this anime seems to be made for young teens. It may be more for a slightly older audience once we get to around episode 7. Everything seems to be leading to a shocking end. Will it?
It takes a while for Charlotte to grow from mildly interesting to intriguing. The final episode could have been made into several episodes expanding the darkness, but I guess they could only do 13 episodes. Charlotte is an original story not taken from any manga. There does not seem to be a second season as the finale makes the story complete.
