I’m not going to spend much time talking about this one. Babanba Banbam Vampire just isn’t worth the time. My basic rule is to give an anime series at least five or six episodes, since many anime series do start off slow. But I am giving up on this one just after four episodes, because it is just so boring.
The basic premise involves Mori, a 450-year-old vampire living and working in a family owned bathhouse. Oh, did I mention Mori is gay? He is attracted to the family’s 15-year-old virgin son, Rihito. Mori only has to wait three years before drinking Rihito dry, when the lad will be at his peak. But Mori’s hopes are soon threatened when Rihito falls in love, fearing that Rihito just may lose his virginity before Mori can feed off of him.
This anime is a comedy. Actually, it tries to be what I call “dumb, but fun.” It is dumb, but not fun. I found the narrative style to be boring. This one really puts you to sleep. It is an interesting concept, but they fail in the execution. Most characters are just plain silly, with their silliness getting in the way of the story. Babanba Banbam Vampire is just too difficult to sit through.
