Vampires: romantic, friendly, or scary?

Anyone else getting a little sick of vampires who do not act like vampires? Sure the occasional seduction is okay, but when that's the main plot it loses something. Ditto for tormented souls who hate what they are.


So what are your favorite vampire based books?

i like the void City series by J.F. Lewis. Most of the main characters either don't regret what they have become or quickly get over it.

Vampires should A: not sparkle unless they are on fire and B: eat people. Even the count on Sesame street picks off a kid every week or so.

Anime means animated. This doesn't even appear to be manga. The plot seems fun, but even the book "Princess Holy Aura" by Ryk Spoore isn't technically anime and it is based on Magical girls. I wrote "How to be an Anime Character" and it doesn't count.
