Uzumaki?

Is anyone familiar with the series Uzumaki? It is currently running on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. I saw an ad for it when watching the MLB playoffs the last two nights. I do like the look of it. Episode 4 airs over the weekend, but if you have Comcast On-Demand, episodes 1-3 will soon be available so you can watch from the beginning.

Yes. It's a Junji Ito work, one of many great horror stories he's done. There's also a live action movie.

I love Junji Ito works! He's truly outstanding, they never cease to give me chills, I just can't see the word 'Uzumaki' without thinking of Naruto, haha.

It does look chilling. I haven't started watching it though. Episode 1 is available on Adult Swim via Comcast's On-Demand, but I am waiting for episodes 2 and 3 to become available. Episodes 4 and on I am recording. More later after I start watching.

I'm familiar with Uzumaki, and it’s definitely one of those series that leaves an impression! I remember first reading the manga and being completely drawn in by the eerie art and intense atmosphere. The adaptation on Adult Swim does a fantastic job capturing that creepy vibe, especially with the unique animation style. I've only seen the first episode so far, but it’s definitely worth sticking with.

Yeah it's only a few episodes, but don't get your hopes up. The animation is atrocious after the first episode. Like, South Park probably has better animation than some of the scenes in this adaptation.

It’s funny because I only read this series because someone on this forum recommended the manga about 11 years ago. It’s really good. It’s a supernatural horror. It’s definitely good, just be prepared to see some strange situations.

Ito has done better. Have you read Fragments of Horror?

As I said in the review section, I was a bit disappointed with Uzumaki. I felt the series should have had more episodes to draw out the action and build suspense, rather than just shoot through the story as quickly as possible.

However, I did like the art style. I found it very inventive. Speaking of which, I found this video on YouTube:



I hope they do more anime based on the works of Junji Ito. Only next time do the story justice.

Why not just release it in theaters as movies? A season of an anime with 4 episodes sounds odd to me.
