1974. The song "Sweet Home Alabama" by the band Lynyrd Skynyrd has turned 50. I like the song, but I don't really like the plane crash tragedy of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The original members (some not on the plane) are all deceased. R.I.P.

My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
All deceased?
There is a version of Lynyrd Skynyrd still around which does all their own songs. It is fronted by Johnny Van Zant, Ronnie's younger brother. But I guess it's not the same.
Free Bird was my favorite LS song.
Not quite!
Sweet Home Alabama was recorded for the prior album in 1973 (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd), but they left it off use on Second Helping as a big opener.

It was officially released as a single on June 24th, 1974, 50 years ago. So, it's the anniversary of the single's release.
