I haven't heard of that one. So I looked it up on imdb.com. This is what it said:

The Color Purple was first written as a book by Alice Walker, which was turned into a film directed by Steven Spielberg. The book then was turned into a Broadway musical in 2005. This second film adaptation of The Color Purple is based on the musical adaptation.

Please God, NO! I can't think of anything worse -- except maybe for Joker 2 being made as a musical.

Actually, this will be good. A lot of prominent Black actors are in it. Watch the trailer.

Actually the Color Purple is a great lesbian love story. As for the Joker...

And that was toned down from the book. They do that a lot. Friend green Tomatoes was a lesbian romance as a book and Emily Dickenson's love poems were all originally written to women and int he Count of Monte Cristo one of his enemy's daughters ran away with her female music teacher.

Spielberg reflected on the harsh criticism he received from the LGBTQ+ community and beyond in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2011.

“I was shy about it,” he said. “In that sense, perhaps I was the wrong director to acquit some of the more sexually honest encounters between Shug and Celie, because I did soften those. I basically took something that was extremely erotic and very intentional, and I reduced it to a simple kiss. I got a lot of criticism for that.”
