Anime You Would/Would Not Want to be Turned into Live Action

We all know that live action movie versions of anime series can be a mixed bag. The three Death Note movies were pretty good. But the Cowboy Bebop movie bombed, as did Dragon Ball, with an American Goku. (Fortunately for me, I missed those. But what I heard was terrifying.)

But if you did have a choice, what anime would you like to see turned into a live action series or movie? And while we're at it, what anime would you prefer not to see as live action -- excluding those where the harm has already been done.

I would not like to see FLCL done as live action, simply because you cannot improve on perfection. Look at the mess they made with the two FLCL sequels. Leave well enough alone.

But I would like to see a live action version of Great Pretender, simply because I love a good story about con men. I would love to see live actors doing Makoto, Abigail, and Laurent. I really don't know who to cast, though.

I am not sure if I would like Baccano as a live action series, but if it is done I would like to see Johnny Depp as the villian Szilard Quates.

Anyone have any other ideas?

I can't really think of any animes that would translate well to live action, but that's just me.


I feel the same way about the Disney live action remakes.

I am still stuck on the casting for Great Pretender. Who could play the calm, sauve, and blonde conman Laurent?

I finally came up with a casting idea for a live action Great Pretender. Zoe Kravitz as Abigail. Yes, I know Kravetz is about 10 years older than the character, but I've seen actors in their late 30's play teens -- with a little help from makeup. No, make that a lot of help from makeup. But Kravitz I think is in good enough shape to pass for 24.
