I logged on a few moments ago, and it said there were 29 new postings. I clicked on "New Posts," and saw only one. What happened to the other 28? Were they just spam which was deleted?

Jackie Coogan, Charlie Chaplin, and Charles Reisner as the Bully.
Reisner was a former pro boxer who turned actor, writer, and director. He previously worked for Chaplin behind the camera on The Gold Rush. Reisner would later become known as a comedy director working with The Marx Brothers, Jack Benny, and Abbot and Costello, among others.
Weird, I just logged in and saw 28 new posts, and was really excited, and only saw this, so it's not just you.
This has happened before, and I was told they were spam posts which were deleted. Although other times I thought the message was a systems error.

It happened again.... From now on if I log in less than 24 hours after the last time and see more than 10 posts, I'm just going to assume its spam.
But at least we have good bots to clean them up.
But its interesting because I see, what to me seems like, spam posts all the time, but I don't say anything. So I wonder how spammy these posts must have been. (Unless its the same kind of spam and I just happened to have seen those posts before they got deleted)
