Anime Sidekicks

It's time to revive another old thread. I have an addition to make for an anime sidekick. Her name is Shuka, the Undefeated Queen, from Darwin's Game. After the Undefeated Queen is defeated by Kaname, she becomes his sidekick while teaching him the rules of the game and how to survive. Soon Kaname becomes the leader of their clan.



OK. So this clip really does not show the sidekick bond. It occurs a bit early in their relationship, but I thought you’d enjoy it anyway. I will tell you this much. The original Japanese dub does make Shuka sound like a ditz. I prefer the English dub where she sounds a bit darker.

And who is the sidekick in Chrono Crusade? The nun takes the lead, but the demon does all the fighting...

Sidekicks can include people, animals, and vegetables.

And people who are vegetables.

It has been a while since I watched Chrono Crusade. If I recall correctly, and I won't say that I am, they were equals in the telling of the story. For an action comedy, it sure had a sad ending. I wonder why they ended it that way.

I never got into Gurren Laggan, and I cannot tell you why. The characters were interesting. The story seemed good. I have no idea why I could not get past episode 4 -- and I tried twice!
