very very blue sky

I'm translating very very blue sky by Kid, an entry for Magical Mirai 2020, and I'm stuck on one line.



The second chorus goes like this:

WoWWoW　雑踏に迷い込み　
WoWWoW zattō ni mayoikomi
WoWWoW Getting lost in the crowds
WoWWoW　時々、空見上げた
WoWWoW tokidoki, sora miageta
WoWWoW sometimes, I'd look up at the sky

それでもまだ空は　青く澄んでた
soredemo mada sora wa aoku sunde'ta
Even so, the sky was still the clearest blue

忘れるくらい　時間をかけて　太陽が届く
wasureru kurai jikan o kakete taiyō ga todoku
???


どれだけ涙　零していても
doredake namida koboshite ite mo
However many tears I was shedding

泣いた分だけ　明るく見えた　
naita bun dake akaruku mieta
the more I cried the brighter it looked

雨上がりは　blue sky
ameagari wa blue sky
After the rain, a blue sky

I get 太陽が届く, the sun will arrive, a promise of good times after the tears. But I can't figure out the bits before. Does 忘れるくらい relate to kakeru, i.e., "if I spend enough time to forget, the sun will get there", or to todoku, i.e., "the sun will take it's time to get here, by which time I'll forget"? Any ideas?

Isn't it something like "taking so long that I forget all about it, the sun reaches" or is that more like 忘れるほど時間をかけて

I guess so, but I think my issue is more that if someone's in trouble, what help is it if the sun takes it's jolly good time to get there.
