Okay you may have noticed that a lot coming out these days are sequels and remakes of popular cartoons. Scooby has been going for fifty+ years. They keep remaking Disney movies and cartoons. How many versions of Ben 10 are there? Or Power Puff Girls? Spin Offs too... still can't believe Elmya was the one who made it off Tiny Toons.
So is this a good thing? Or should they focus instead on making original stuff like when Moana came out?
Honestly I barely even watch the Disney movies any more. Listening to Will Smith sing "Never had a friend like me" I just kept hearing the differences from the Robin Williams version. Melificent was great because they did all new stuff. My Little Pony:FIM was great, but it was it's own thing not too based on the original 80's show. Transformers Animated seemed more like Gargoyles...
I just really wish they would do more original things. New ideas now based on something they did thirty years ago because the adults feel nostalgic and the kids have no idea who Popey and Woody Woodpecker are.
Would I enjoy seeing Jessica Rabbit take over Eddie Valient's detective agency? Or a Live action Spider-girl TV series on FOX? YES! But I'd like that sort of thing to be the exception rather than the norm. I'd rather see new stuff. Unexpected. Rather than just continuations and do overs of things someone else came out with.
How about you?
