On February 17, in the 12th volume of the manga series Senryuu Shoujo (Senryuu Girl) by Masakuni Igarashi announced it would officially end its manga in the 13th volume, the next volume of the film. Volume 13 is expected to be released on June 17.

The story revolves around Nanako Yukishiro and Eiji Busujima. Nanako is a girl who can only speak by writing senryuu (a three-line, 17-word poetry like haiku but mainly focused on humor). Eiji is a bully guy but loves poetry. Both joined the school's literary club. The story is about the happy days of the couple next to the 17-letter lines of poetry.

Igarashi released the manga in Weekly Shounen Magazine in October 2016. Kodansha has published volume 6 of the manga.

This manga was adapted into an anime last April.
