Talking Scary Moments in Non-Horror Anime

    Watch this:

Now, what are your favorite scary moments in non-horror anime?

It's hard for me to think of one.

Is Soul Eater considered a horror anime? It is more in the line of action-comedy, although it certainly does deal with witches and Death himself. But I found it rather disturbing when Dr. Stein falls under Medusa's spell. So was Soul's interacting with that little devil gnome.

Speaking of Steins, there's Steins; Gate, which is more sci-fi than horror. The murder of Mayuri was pretty disturbing.

    You got any?

Jackie Coogan, Charlie Chaplin, and Charles Reisner as the Bully.

Reisner was a former pro boxer who turned actor, writer, and director. He previously worked for Chaplin behind the camera on The Gold Rush. Reisner would later become known as a comedy director working with The Marx Brothers, Jack Benny, and Abbot and Costello, among others.

Default Re: Scary Moments in Non-Horror Anime

Thinking about it a bit more, I would consider Monster a horror anime, even if it does not deal with anything supernatural. Some would disagree with me. But if you do not consider Monster a horror anime, then certainly it should be on the list. There are many terrifying moments as Johan uses psychology to manipulate others and leaves a trail of bodies behind.

You might say the same about Perfect Blue. I consider it a horror anime, though it is mostly horror taking place within Mima's mind. Others would not consider Perfect Blue horror since it too does not deal with the supernatural -- other than what Mima imagines.
