Earlier today, December 7, baseball great Dick Allen died at 78. I do not know the cause.

Actress Cloris Leachman died today. She was already established as a TV actress when she made her film debut running down a highway wearing nothing but a rain coat in the film noir classic Kiss Me Deadly. Though remaining primarily on television, she did make some memorable movie appearances in The Last Picture Show and Young Frankenstein. She did the voice of Kayo in the English dub of Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo.
