Season two of Forest of Piano? Not bad, but also not quite up to the standards of season one. Season two almost entirely takes place at an international Chopin competition held in Poland. Both Kai and Shuhei go head to head, not only with each other but with pianists from all over the world. In the course of events, their relationship is put to the test.

Season two also introduces a number of other characters, going into their life stories. Getting away from the main plot, the flow of the series gets bogged down. However life is restored for the final four episodes.

The artwork remains excellent, but the animation is sub-par. That is the greatest let down from season one. There is an overuse of stills in which no movement takes place, and when the characters do move they are still and lifeless. The performance scenes were done on the cheap this time around.

Still it’s a good enough story for me to recommend. After all, season one was great. And season two of Forest of Piano can’t take that away.
