Joker Trailer

When I first saw pictures of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker, I thought, "You must be kidding." He looked more like a reject from a McDonald's commercial.

Then I saw the trailer:



This actually looks pretty good. Dark and good. I think I will give it a chance.

Notice the visual tributes to Martin Scorsese? Director Todd Phillips is supposed to have said he was heavily influenced by Scorsese's work when making the film. Interesting.

TRIVIA: The song Smile, used in the trailer, was written by Charlie Chaplin for Modern Times. Check that film out, if you have never seen it. It's a classic.

I loved it, but didn't like the bullying scenes. Then again, it makes me want to know when he turns to the dark side. Moreover, I will be seeing it at the movies, probably on the day it comes out. I bet it's gonna' be lit!

This looks really good and I do plan to go see it. This definitely colors The Joker as the victim of society or at least of Gotham's poison. I feel bad for him just watching the trailer and felt the city probably has it coming. There's that dark side deep inside me that wants to start laughing when he starts to snap. Sort of how I enjoyed watching Venom's grin throughout the movie. Although I'm sure this movie will not be at all as humorous as Venom was. I'm reminded of a comment I read from the Youtube trailer:


1989: Dropped into toxic chemicals
2019: Dropped into society



I wish they would have used Joaquin in Suicide Squad and made Leto's look more crazy murder-y and less crazy molest-y.

Only the trailer does seem to give you too much of the plot.

Also, the kid in the trailer is supposed to be Bruce Wayne, which would been when he meets the Joker as Batman, the Joker would be somewhat past his prime. It is hardly a fair fight.
