    Default Bucket List Anime

What is a bucket list? It's a list of things you want to do before you "kick the bucket." That is, before you die.

So name an anime you would recommend for someone else's bucket list.

First, I would recommend most anything by Hayao Miyazaki. Let's start with Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo. (BTW, as predicted, Miyazaki's retirement didn't take. He has a new film in pre-production presently called How do you Live?

    Other movies:
    Your Name
    Grave of the Fireflies

    Series:
    Boggiepop Phantom
    Durarara!!
    Monster

I will add more maybe later. Now its your turn.

Fullmetal Alchemist AND Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Just because brotherhood is better doesn't mean the original should be discarded.

    Cowboy Bebop

Other than that I'm not really sure. If we were going with "Anime every fan should see" I can think of a few like Yu Yu Hakusho and InuYasha, but it seems more about being 'classic' and less about actually being good, especially in InuYasha's case. (I mean... I remember liking it at the time but then it just never really went anywhere?)

There's a lot of anime I love, but not really sure I'd put it on a list that others would have to see, even my favories Digimon Tamers and Yakitate!! Japan. Those both seem more like an acquired taste. And even Ouran, another favorite.

I dunno. I'll stick with saying FMA and Bebop.

I think Cowboy Bebop would be a good introductory anime. I think I started a thread on that some time ago. Maybe I will restart one at a later date.

I know what you mean about Inuyasha. After about 70 episodes, it started to get redundant. I did a fanfic based on that once where the characters all realized they were working from separate scripts from previous episodes. That series went on way too long.

This one is tough to answer, because I just don't have that great of a memory.

I think Clannad Afterstory should go on such a list, but I don't think Clannad should. It's a bit tricky though because Afterstory might not have the same impact if you haven't seen Clannad.
I agree that Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood belongs on the list.
    A Silent Voice
    Whisper of the Heart
    Eureka Seven
    Fate/Zero

My impression is that really long shows don't belong. The really niche shows that don't have universal appeal also don't belong.

As far as Clannad goes... There isn't really all that much you are missing out on, if you don't watch it. It can easily be explained to get someone ready for After Story. I do agree with After Story being a must watch though. I don't get into very many romantic anime, but this one I would probably watch again.

Speaking of good romance anime I would also recommend Kimi ni Todoke.

As I stated my list depends on your preferences, but I would recommend each of them to someone for their bucket list. It's not there for everyone to watch every anime. Although you could...

    Noted. Naughty. Fun?

Anyway, with Hell Girl, Monster, Perfect Blue, and Serial Experiments Lain, I guess you are as big a fan of the mind-f*** anime as I am. Have you seen Hell Girl: Two Mirror and Hell Girl: Three Vessels yet? If not, you'd better hurry, before Hell Girl: Fourth Twilight is released in the US. Or has it been already?

I'm saddened that Gurren Lagann and Samurai Champloo haven't been mentioned so I'll toss those onto this list.

I forgot about Gurren! Yeah, I usually don't like Mecha animes, but I REALLY enjoyed that. It was really funny at the beginning, and then had twists later I didn't see coming

I'm surprised by how many shows you've listed that I haven't seen. It looks like most of them are late 90s and mid 00s. I guess I just haven't seen much of the older stuff.

Check some of them out. They're all worth the watch. If I spent more time on my anime-planet list I'm sure I could add some more to that list. There are also a bunch I never added to that list. I quit using that site quite a while ago.
