Generation 8 of Pocket Monsters is coming to a GameStop near you. This is where we can discuss our high hopes for originality and sublime in-game storytelling!!
My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
I'm hoping for a more open world style game. Also I've wanted an English setting since Gen5 so I'm glad about that.
Guess I need a switch finally. There have been a lot of games I've wanted to play, but nothing so far that made me have to get one. I hope it goes back to regular game mechanics instead of the Pokemon go mechanics.
Also, while some HM's were bad, Surf and Fly were my go to moves later in the game, so, if they continue to not use HMs anymore, I hope Fly and Surf will still be available as actual moves.
Also, I'm a picky gamer and I haven't played a ton of games, and I'm not the best with open world, so, I hope if it is open world that it's done in a way you can't get super-super lost.
What I'd like to see is your character's beginning home being randomly placed in one of the 8-15 cities throughout the map. The game would have to adjust the levels of the Pokemon through the natural course of the game, but really, higher level and later discovered Pokemon in past games have had set moves they would learn in lower levels anyways.
Also, and I especially want to emphasize this one, that I'm bored with the predictable grass/water/fire starter Pokemon set-up. There are other weakness triangles like:
fighting/rock/flying
poison/ground/grass
rock/fire/steel
What I liked about Gen5 (B/W) was that they kept with showing only the new introduced Pokemon throughout the main story until you finished it. Considering I was on a major Pokemon hiatus since the original Gold/Silver series, I liked that I had nothing but new faces, moves, and special abilities to work with.
Just like the Eevees, I would like to see the Pan-/Simi- elemental monkey Pokemon get more types introduced:
Pansour/Simisour (poison type)
Pansaute/Simisaute (flying type)
Pangrill/Simigrill (steel type)
From the small bit shown, it looks pretty decent, and the map looks great. Kinda lame that the fire type once again seems like it's gonna take the fire/fighting route, though.
Also that grass monkey is an absolute eyesore.
My mood on a daily basis
The map looks rather interesting. It doesn't really look like you're going in a loop anymore, but more like you're working your way to the top; with Victory Road at the top of the continent. Have you all seen the pics showing the starter pokemon's uncanny resemblance to The Power Puff Girls?
With Lopunny, Diggersby, Azumarill and now Scorbunny, my devastating all rabbit team is becoming a reality. Muah ha ha! >D That's actually not a bad team. You have a normal (fighting mega), ground tank, water/fairy tank, and probably a hard hitting fire.

Does anyone own the two new editions? If so, what are the pros/cons about them, game-play-wise?
My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
@Digimon_Sommelier I have Shield. Overall I had fun with the game. Dunno how it compares to past ones, I haven't played any since diamond. It seemed a bit easy, my Scorbunny felt pretty OP throughout. The story was a bit predictable, but I really like how they did the battle intro for the antagonist. I also really hated the rival. He feels like a stalker and you battle him constantly. He's incredibly annoying.
All in all, it's a pretty okay game, about what I expected for a Pokemon game. Campaign took me about 30 hours at a casual pace.
My mood on a daily basis
It may not be the longest story in a Pokemon game, but the seemingly faster pace doesn't really detract from the entertainment value for me. I still enjoy playing the game and I am more invested in the new mechanics than in some of the previous games. The world looks cool and it's a lot of fun just getting on a bike and riding around.
The ability to dodge almost any random buy shiny pokemon at battle has its ups and downs. I think it's speeding up the pace because now you can see 99% of the battles and if you really want to, you can dodge at least 75% of them completely. It's nice to be able to race through an area full of grass and not come across 50 level 5 dinks that you gain 1 shot and 1exp from this waste of time. I also like walking on grass and aiming at a specific Pokémon at will. On this subject too, the random, very strong Pokemon mechanic is cool to me and I think it makes the level cap for catching acceptable and balanced.
