Trying to remember a title

OK, now it's my turn to ask for help.

I am trying to remember the name of a particular anime series. The series is no more than 10 years old, I think. It takes place in feudal Japan. Two warring families are about to be united when the two next-in-line for the heads of these families fall in love. Yes, one is a woman. Anyway, the local war lord orders both families to restart their war until one family destroys the other. Each family will represent one of the two potential heirs to the throne of the empire. It does not take long for the bodies to fall, as each family's specially trained super-ninjas pick off their rivals one by one.

I thought I wrote about it here, but I can't find the posting. I did a websearch, and searched DVD's on Netflix. But I can't seem to find it.

Does anyone know the name? No, it is not RomeoXJuliet.
