Q: Are you a hoarder or know someone who is?
Lord knows I am. I have lots of junk in my apartment!
My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
I am not a hoarder. I'm just a very bad housekeeper.
My husband is, and its a pretty upsetting disorder. It causes a substantial amount of problems in a relationship, and some of those problems cannot be overcome. I am an absolute neat freak but it drives me crazy to have to go behind someone and clean up their messes while they refuse to pull their weight. Its caused more than one argument.
Bruh don't even get me started.
My mom has always been awful with keeping useless stuff, maybe not bad enough to make it on the TV show, but it's definitely a headache to deal with. I'm not even that much of a neat freak, pretty damn unorganized most of the time actually, but it's insane the amount of effort and arguing it takes to get her to toss anything. When I was young, she kept so much stuff that she eventually just tossed a ton of it (mostly my and my sister's stuff) into a rented storage unit. She continuously made late or missed payments for the unit, and it was eventually all auctioned off. I didn't know about this at first, since I was living with my dad at the time (custody orders amirite). She had never told us what all she kept there, but I learned later that all of my collectible stuff, like Pokemon cards, toys, games and consoles, etc, as well as very sentimental stuff, like love letters and my first art book, had all been lost because of her. What did she save, though? A bunch of dirty furniture and rusted junk that was at least several decades years old, as well as crates full of useless outdated paperwork. It was infuriating to say the least.
Even now, I work part-time as her caregiver, and she'll throw a fit whenever I insist on replacing furniture or throwing stuff away.
An old vacuum head? "What if I get a new vacuum that needs it??".
A creaky, unbalanced wooden step-stool? "It's an antique, I could pawn it off or put it out for a yard sale for a few bucks, don't you dare!"
A large, rusted metal Christmas lawn decoration (she lives in an apartment, no yard)? "My dad made that, it's sentimental!"
The list goes on. She does live in an apartment, so space is limited, and even moreso with all the medical equipment she needs. But heaven forbid I try and toss out a box full of dusty folders and water-damaged books that she hasn't touched in 10 years to make room for her wheelchair. It's still pretty infuriating. I understand wanting to keep things that you're attached to, like the Christmas decorations her dad made, but there needs to be a limit.
I used to be a hoarder, just look at some of this junk
No! I hate clutter and I throw everything away. My partner is a bit of a hoarder though.. I'm always making him get rid of stuff! Having lots of things makes me feel stressed.
I keep things. I'm not to hoarder level. But I do have a hard time letting some stuff go because I think it'll be useful in the future and don't want to have to re-buy it.

In some cases. I have receipts of a restaurant that has closed down here in Orlando so I keep them as some kind of memory.
My brother is a bit of a hoarder. It worked pretty damn well for him though. He now makes a living buying and selling on ebay.
