Any ideas on getting more people in here?
Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

Spread the news on Failbook, tell them forums are way better than government-backed social-engineering-networks.
Bring more signs and site logos to comic-cons.
Advertise on anime-streaming sites (that's gonna cost).
Tell them that here they can talk to actual japanese people.
Maybe add a virtual dating service/subforum, or:
Convert Chii-chan into a 2/3D graphical chatbot.
Stock up on japanese vrSex-suits and sell them here.
Form a joint-operation with other forums.
I wish this place was more popular, but I don't think there's any 'way' to make it happen. People now seem more interested in social media, which I hate... than messageboards.
Like I feel like Social media was a good idea and concept, but I just don't feel the connection to anyone that way. I really enjoy topics and being able to read them and reply that way.
Like right now, I realized I have an issue because, I love My Hero Academia, and I just followed a couple MHA blogs on Tumblr, but then, I just realized that, I watch the dub, for multiple reasons, and in the next few weeks, Funimation will delay the dub for a week, so I will either have to unfollow that blog, or be spoiled, where as, if it was here, there might be a new ep thread that I could avoid. But in social media, it's watch something the second it's released, or be spoiled. Sucks.
I know only know of one other anime messageboard that's active (But they are particularly a Digimon board, though they talk about other things too) but I don't post there much either because the mods, IMO, take things too seriously. I can understand trying to keep things orginized and things, but if you get the slightest bit off topic or something, you get yelled at. It's an online messgeboard! I mean, I'm not one of THOSE, that think 'online doesn't matter' because it does, but lets have fun too? I dunno.

First off, this forum has the same technical glitch that A4 had..I would sign in, write a post, then submit it, only to read a message that I can not submit the post because I was not signed in, yet, I would not have even been able to write a post unless I was signed in! It must be something wrong with the vBulletin system, because I think that A4 used vBulletin as well.
Second, just about all anime forums have trouble keeping active members, even MAL's forum is a little less active than it used to be. I would just join and use a few more forums and maybe even consider Reddit as well. Just don't get too attached to any one anime forum, they could disappear in a heartbeat.
I actually agree with these points. These are the only realistic ways to bring new life to the community. But you all, still have to be aware that no forum can compete with social media for a very simple reason … random content with no real benefits (other than content itself) vs. real exchange of opinion. We provide the later, but most people prefer a two word post about how they saw a spider in their room with an attached picture of said spider, over a lengthy post, sharing their thoughts about a specific subject.
On the other hand, posts about how this site sucks, how people who don't like it should leave and so on, are bad publicity for us. When old members criticize a board publicly, new people lose interest into even trying. So a good practice would be to keep those to a minimum, too.
No technical glitch … it's a feature. It logs you out after 15 mins of inactivity unless you hit the "Remember me" checkbox while logging in.
I was one of A4s admins and I can tell you right now, that it's definitely not the same. The two dinks that bought it wrecked the database, let hackers in the backend, put it on hosting that couldn't handle the site and so on. That's why you were experiencing issues. Nothing at all to do with vBulletin.
For more members... GET A TWITTER PRESENCE. :P Maybe!
Most of us have some older members we are familiar with on Facebook, for example, I am pretty sure I still have you FlashD. Perhaps we can organize a reunion with the members. Or we can go drag everybody from discord back here by force.
Nude lap dancing. That will get them in here.

Human sacrifice? I'm pretty sure Animedude is or should be a virgin... but then what soulless evil entity would want him?
